Hi there
I have searched the forum before but could not find a suitable answer to my problem,I don't even know if there is a simple way to do this, so I'll explain it to you who read this.
I am trying to find a simple way to add all citizens from my city to my friend list (and forward this information to the citizens).
I am not the mayor, so I do not receive the mails when someone joins or leaves the city. But my mayor forward the info to us.
My concern is that I have done a macro (in fact, 2 macros because it would not fit into a single one) to add all current citizens to my friend list.
I am updating the macros on a regular basis and send them to all citizens.
I am updating the macros on a regular basis and send them to all citizens.
The way it is implemented is not very handy or I am missing some point.
- At the city terminal, I check the Citizenship report on a regular basis.
Is there a way to sort this list alphabetically?
This would be easier for me to compare the list of citizens with my current friend list which can be sorted alphabetically.
When someone leaves the city, it is difficult to check which one has left the city if the mayor does not forward the information.
- Is there a command or option to automatically add a friend to a group?
/addfriend X adds X to my list but then I have to go through all 58 citizens and add them to a specific group (e.g. Citizens).
This is useful to send emails to all citizens, as I have other buddies in my list who are not citizens.
I hope you understand what I mean and hope that my english is not too bad.
If this is not possible, may be this is something who could be improved and make it easier for citizens to know who is still part of a city.
As I could not find a way to do this in game, I took a look in my profiles folder ...\profiles\...\Kauri and I have seen 2 files which deals with friend list.
- friend_data.iff : this one has a modified date from March 15th, 2004, this one is outdated and it is not my current friend list
- 14851392779_friend_data.iff : this one is the current friend list I have
These are not easely editable and I don't want to mess it up but in this file, there is the information: friends_name. group_name
I hope someone can give some input, this could be helpful for all players willing to keep a city up to date
edit: oups sorry, I found this post that seems to answer my second question
when I did the search before, the server was too busy... but the first question is still open

man I feel so ashamed
I found the answer to second question in the Advanced guide to the Friday Feature Community Window....
Other slash commands for managing friends are /friendgroup [charactername] group and /friendcomment [charactername]comment.
but question1 still open...
edit: I did not edit my first post... somehow, the hyperlinks get lost if I edit a post with one in it... (if someone could explain what I am doing wrong? a private message would be ok
)

If there is no way to sort the Citizenship report list, could someone tell me how it is built/sorted?
This list is not sorted in the order the citizens have joined the city.
I cannot recognize any kind of patern in this list. What is the logic? How is it sorted?
Should I expect a dev to take 1 minute to answer this question ?
Or did a player find out how this list is built?
I would appreciate to have an answer, I don't think this would take much time.

*bump*
I noticed a bug (will submit it in game tonight)
If you use the /friendGroup command, the Comment is deleted.
If you use the /friendComment command, the Group is deteled.
Very annoying...
So, forum members, should I continue to expect an answer or forget it??
Am I doing something wrong by posting this??
Has this already been discussed??
Should I dig a hole and burry myself in the ground??
I would at least want someone to answer the question: how the Citizenship report list is created? (btw, same for the Guild members list... someone joined yesterday and his name was not at the end of the list, neither at the beginning but somewhere in the middle)
Please... please oh please, just answer this single question and then I will vanish and never post any question again.
(I don't think a player can answer this unless he already asked this to a dev or someone from SOE)
edit : well, I guess I am hitting the forum at the wrong time... will give it a try later when USA gets hit by the daylight ![]()

If you use the graphical editor, it loses links when you edit. I had to change my preference to use the... uhm non-graphical edit to preserve links when editing.

The list is sorted by character creation date with the oldest at the bottom.
There is no way to sort the list at this time, no way to export, and no way to automatically add people in your guild or your city.
