Thread: is Vartonis meant to be killed by anything other than a full temp jedi?

I jsut tried to do vartonis with my tkm/master swords and got vartonis maybe 60% of his health and got annihilated with his 6k damage shots in less than a minute. Is this even possible with tkm/swords? I got some good head shots but after 4 was so low on action i couldnt do anything. Took bofa, mando wine, crispic, etc.

Well I am Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer, and though I have yet to beat him, I have figured out how to do so. I can get him down once easily, and got him down to 400 health on the second time, but couldn't hold on long enough to finish the job.

So yes, it is possible. Smuggler is not strong for dmg. If I can do it. You can do it.

Actually its quite easy for non-Jedi... err... some non-Jedi. I didn't go below 75% health in the entire battle. I'm a TKM/MSwords/4xxxDoc but the Doctor didn't matter as I was not required to heal once, plus w/ 90k health those heals don't amount to much. Really requires an in-depth knowledge of your profession and just experience in general (something most Jedi have) to kill Lord Vartonis.

(On a side note, I think I actually had an easier time killing Vartonis than most Jedi because it seems to me that he, and many other Mustafarian MOBs, is hightly energy resistant.)

Only advice I can give is use a kinetic weapon, have kinetic armour, if you use armour, and buff up on as much melee defence food and drink as you can. Also, I use the offensive Wind Shard and sith holocron to stop AB. Vartonis is all about attack. Don't bother with defence.

Vartonis is certainly possible. I am a Master Rifleman, Master Squad Leader, and Carbineer and managed to defeat him. BUT, what makes this a feat is that I do not have any medical skills besides the stimpacks.

When I fought him, I used all the buffs I could get... doctor buffs and foodstuffs mainly. I didn't use any of the buff crystals either. For food, I used Blob Candy, Spiced Tea, Crispic, Elshandrou Pica Thundercloud (Ranged Defense +), the dodge and block enhancers, and booster blue.

As N'varra says, try that strategy. If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. I fought him 2 times before I got my strategy together.

Hope that helps.

I slapped him down no problem with my M.Swordsman/TKM character...

  • Take Booster Blue, HAM buffing foods, Vegeparsine, Pikatta Pie, and Crispic before starting the battle with him.

  • If you have a Doctor friend, have him give you a full set of buffs right before entering the Lair (not necessary tho).

  • Use a good Power Hammer with Speed Powerups (have an extra one out in your inventory too).

  • Make sure you use the Mysterious and Powerful Crystal to buff beforehand!

  • Use the Wild Shard (Offensive Burst) and Sith Holocron (Forbidden Knowledge I) right before starting.

  • Always keep CoB going.

  • Keep Armor Break and Bleed going on him, and KD whenever possible.

  • Try not to heal and just keep up the attacks.

  • Use Synthsteak if you feel you need to.

  • Be ready to use KD Recovery, he likes to knock you down a lot.

Other than that, just be sure to heal and regen fully after his first attack before killing all of the 5 mercenaries he sends. That way you're prepared for the second battle. If you could beat him the first time then the second should be no different if you're fully recovered.

Don't forget to loot him!

I took him down on the second attempt with a ranger/BH so it should be possible for almost any cl80 combat toon

i went in there with a fresh set of buffs, includinga speed buff(after bribing a doc to meet me there) and took a bite of mushroom pie to boost my speed further. Accuracy food so i missed a little less. Accaragm and booster to keep my action up, with a sac pup on my weapon

it was a close one though. i had about 1k health left when he dropped so i would have been dead if he hit me just once more.

i didn't use stims or heals at all during the whole thing.

I am a mcm/mbh/x4xx carb template and beat him about two days ago. I had to try it 3 times though. It's tough but can be beaten.

I've tried this over and over with mymtka/mdoc using Knuckles of the Katarn. I've given up. I've tried various combinations of food, spice and drink, crystals. I can kill him once, but I take so much dmg I can't heal up for the 2nd round before theuber buff wears off. I havethe sameproblem every time. I'm-Too Tired- because of action pool drain. If I could keep action from draining, I'dspank him like a durni.Trying to land a state or armor break on him is like pulling teeth.

I've read you can go in and let him kill you without using the crystal and the next time you go in you can use it twice, but I haven't been able to get that to work. Maybe if I had more details?

Hmm... Judging from these responses, I'm guessing he'll be totally impossible for me once I reach him, since I'm a master commando/ master pistoleer build with some smuggler mixed in.
