Next to where it says "online" or "offline" there is an asterik, but not for everyone. What does this mean?

At the bottom of the same screen there is a checkbox; the descriptive textfor this box also has an asterisk next to it. These two things may be connected...

hehe If there is an asterix behind the name in your friend list, you get a system msg when that person goes online or offline, if there isnt an asterix you dont
