Thread: Star Wars Galaxies Number Pad Remap Guide
As a veteran of the game, I've found that there are certain things one can do to make life a whole lot more streamlined and fun in SWG. One of the best ways to do this is to start reducing those mundane 'clicks' and jumps through menus. The first way to begin the journey to making life simpler is to learn the art of writing macros, while the second is taking advantage of the custom key map feature. As such, I have a two part guide for you to help you take advantage of these awesome features. You will note that this guide is specifically geared to people who have been playing with the original Star Wars Galaxies key map. This is mainly due to the fact that I have only played using this mapping, because back in 2003 I found it was an absolutely massive improvement over the Everquest design.
Section 2 - Learning how to use macros
This is something that has been covered in detail by others, so I will provide you with links to the online guides. When you feel you are comfortable with macros, come on back to this guide. It will be here when you get back!

Section 3 - Writing Your Macros
Here I will provide you with all of the macros needed to completely remap your key pad to the way I have mine. Feel free to modify them for your own uses. Please note that anything written in blue should not be typed into the macro, it is simply a note to help you understand what's going on. Macro names will be look like this (macroname) - Do not type the brackets when naming the macros in game. By the way, I use the convention of following every line in a macro with a semicolon, as this way I am sure not to forget one where it is important!
(petattack)
/tellpet attack;
(hide)
/harvest hide;
/loot all; Some animals drop goodies!
(meat)
/harvest meat;
/loot all; Some animals drop goodies!
(bone)
/harvest bone;
/loot all; Some animals drop goodies!
(boardshuttle)
/board transport;
(gallop)
/gallop;
(weapon1a)
Make one of these for all 12 weapons that will be bound to the keypad. Refer to the Key Map below for the macro nomenclature.
/ui action toolbarPane02; Switch to toolbar 3
/ui action toolbarSlot00; Equip weapon in first slot (or second, or third, etc)
/ui action toolbarPane00; Switch back to your main toolbar
(armor)
/ui action toolbarPane01; Switch to toolbar 2
/ui action toolbarSlot12;
/ui action toolbarSlot13;
/ui action toolbarSlot14;
/ui action toolbarSlot15;
/ui action toolbarSlot16;
/ui action toolbarSlot17;
/ui action toolbarSlot18;
/ui action toolbarSlot19;
/ui action toolbarSlot20;
/ui action toolbarSlot21;
/ui action toolbarSlot22;
/ui action toolbarSlot23;
/ui action toolbarPane00; Switch back to your main toolbar
(clothes)
/ui action toolbarPane01; Switch to toolbar 2
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot01;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;
/ui action toolbarSlot03;
/ui action toolbarSlot04;
/ui action toolbarSlot05;
/ui action toolbarSlot06;
/ui action toolbarSlot07;
/ui action toolbarSlot08;
/ui action toolbarSlot09;
/ui action toolbarSlot10;
/ui action toolbarSlot11;
/ui action toolbarPane00; Switch back to your main toolbar
(food)
This handy macro saves you having to click each thing you'd like to consume before a battle. Note that this is not recursive!
/ui action toolbarPane02; Switch to toolbarpane3
/ui action toolbarSlot12;
/pause 1; Because sometimes lag gets in the way
/ui action toolbarSlot13;
/pause 1;
/ui action toolbarSlot14;
/pause 1;
/ui action toolbarSlot15;
/ui action toolbarPane00; Switch back to your main toolbar
(mount1)
Call/Store a Mount or Vehicle
Make one of these for all 4 Mounts or Vehicles that will be bound to the keypad. Refer to the Key map below for the macro nomenclature.
/ui action toolbarPane02; Switch to toolbar 3
/ui action toolbarSlot16; Call Mount or Vehicle in first slot (or second, or third, or fourth)
/ui action toolbarPane00; Switch back to your main toolbar
Trust me, you don't want to add an auto-board your mount, because then when you get somewhere you'll try to get into the mount rather than store it
Extras:
(duelist)
Recurring Duelist Stance - Also works for Center of Being, etc.
/dueliststance;
/pause 32;
/macro duelist; This is how you make a recurring macro!
(healing)
This gets you healed between or during battles
/bactaShot;
/pause 9;
Repeat two above commands several times, depending on your Health value and your healing abilities.
Finished Healing; Lets you know the macro is finished!
Section 4 - Setting up Your Toolbars
Being that I only ever sit behind the keyboard of my own computer and play this game, I can't say what or how people are doing when they mash their way through the world of Star Wars Galaxies. However, what I can say is that there is certainly a difference between one master level player and another when it comes to effectiveness in combat, character interaction, and grouping fun that goes well beyond the equipment they are wearing. Some people are flat out bad at this game, while others merely need to harness the power set forth before them in those 104+ keys! The first way to do that is to make great use of the Tool Bar that SOE put into this game.
First and foremost, that puppy has 6 levels to it, each with a total of 24 buttons. That's 144 programmable buttons at your disposal! Many people know that you can use a macro to hit buttons on a different panel, but I have yet to see anyone else write a macro that switches back and forth between panels to perform actions instantly. This is what I have done and I'll explain it to you here. There is truly no end to the things you can do with macros, the tool bar, and the concept of recursion that will help you have fun more easily in this game!
Panel 1
Generally speaking, this is the panel you'll be looking at all the time. Drag that puppy down so you can see all 24 buttons and fill it up with your special attacks, healing abilities, and state recovery abilities. Personally, mine looks like this:
00 - 03: Bacta Shot / Bacta Toss / Stim-C / Burst Run
04 - 06: Special Attack / Special Attack / Special Attack / Bounty Hunter Knockdown
07 - 10: Special Attack / Special Attack / Special Attack / Special Attack
11 - 14: Healing Macro / Empty / Duelist Stance Macro / Brandy Macro
15 - 18: Special Attack / State Attack / State Attack / Carbineer Knockdown
19 - 23: Knockdown Recovery / Stun Recovery / Dizzy Recovery / Blind Recovery
Panel 2
This is where I put my clothing and armor. Simply drag and drop the clothes you want to wear on the top bar and the armor you want to wear on the bottom bar. You will, however, have to tweak this depending on what you would like to wear. This can be a bit frustrating when you have an odd number of clothes/armor, but keep switching back and forth between them and changing positions/doubling up items as required on the tool bar and in the macros. I think you'll find that once you write the macros and drop the items in the tool bar and start switching back and forth, the problems and their solutions will become obvious to you J.
Panel 3
This would be our general utility panel, comprised of weapons on the top and miscellaneous stuff on the bottom. Being that I am a ranged weapon guy I broke Panel 3 down the following way. Please make modifications as you see fit. Drag and drop food/spice/drink/enhancers items from your inventory into the bottom left most four boxes. They must be NOT be in crates or in your back pack, because they either plumb won't work or they won't be reliable - which is really too bad.
00 - 03: Carbines
04 - 06: Rifles
07 - 10: Pistols
11 - 14: Food / Drink / Enhancer / Spice (or what ever works for your pre-battle meal!)
15 - 18: Flash Speeder / Swoop / AB-1 / Carrion Spat
19 - 23: Empty You could add more enhancements here for you food macro, but it's best to read up on the stacking nightmare before you go overboard tweaking!
Section 5 - Remapping that Old Number Pad!
And here you are! This is the big moment when you need to open CTRL + O, choose "keymap" and then move to the custom tab where you will find all of your macros you have just created. You will notice that many of the keys on the number pad are all ready mapped to something else. Trust me, it is safe to remap the keypad to what ever you like, as more than likely you are not using the keypad often (if ever) anyhow! If you find you are missing the old functions, you simply need to hit "restore defaults" button and you're back to square one. However, allow me to point out that in the two years I've been playing this game, the number pad is the most prime real estate on that Star Wars Galaxies interface you have!

Section 6 - Other Remaps
There are several handy things to do and undo with the Star Wars Galaxies original key mapping that make things a little handier. Again, some of these keys are mapped to different things, but trust me you really will not notice.
The Map:
[SHIFT] - Remove "Toggle Walk/Run", as it is merely a nuisance.
[CTRL + [ ] - Chat Copy
[CTRL + ] ] - Chat Paste
Section 7 - Final Words
Thankfully, with this topic there just aren't any final words - beyond the creaking doors and the sounds of thousands of screams when this game is eventually taken off line. Please take this guide as a jumping point to your own adventures and inventions in this wonderful world of Star Wars Galaxies! The fun only stops when your imagination does - or when some horrendous bug is griefing you.

Nice guide. The link in my sig has some info on setting up modal chat so you can bind macros to keys.
Here's my currentkeyboard layout:
A - /bactaShot self
S - /tar self; (use bacta jab enhancer from toolbar)
D - /tar self; (use bacta toss enhancer from toolbar)
Z - (use bacta spray enhancer from toolbar)
X - (use bacta infusion enhancer from toolbar)
Num + - (use stabilizers enhancer from toolbar)
Num Enter - Emergency heal macro.
Then I have Shift+[key] to use enhancers and heals on others, /bactaSpray doesnt need a target.
Shift+A - /bactaShot - for healing others
Shift+S - (use bacta jab enhancer from toolbar)
Shift+D - (use bacta toss enhancer from toolbar)
Shift+C - /bandage
I have 1-8 bound to select group member rather than CTRL+1-8 to make selecting people to heal easier.
Then for when I get a "thunk", meaning run out of enhancers, I have:
CTRL+S - /bactaJab
CTRL+D - /bactaToss
CTRL+Z - /bactaSpray
CTRL+X - /bactaInfusion
I've stuck a few Stim D in toolbar slots 00 and 01 so I just hit F1 or F2 for them as I need to see when I am running low on them.
When I had the DoT heal line I had:
Q - /counterToxin
W - (use disinfect enhancer from toolbar)
E - /extingushFire
C - /bandage self
CTRL+W - /disinfect
For CM I have:
Insert - (use Neurotoxin Enhancer enhancer from toolbar)
Home - (use Deuterium Toss Enhancer enhancer from toolbar)
Delete - /paralyze (swap with shock depending on how much CM I have)
End - /electrolyteDrain
Shift+Insert - /neurotoxin
Shift+Home - /deuteriumToss
Pistoleer gets:
Num 7 - /intimidateShot
Num 8 - /burstShot
Num 9 - /disarmingShot
Num 4 - /stoppingShot
Num 5 - /bodyShot
Num 6 - /fanShot
Num 1 - /firearmStrike
Num 2 - /quickDraw
Num 3 - /warningShot
, - /kipupShot
. - /rollShot
/ - /diveShot
Scroll lockplays :
Pistoleer-DamageShots
/quickDraw
/pause0.5
/bodyShot
/pause 1.5
/macro Pistoleer-DamageShots
Pause plays a looping ranged shot macro with warning shot every 10 seconds that lets my action go back up while I keep shooting.
Targetting is as follows:
Num * - bound to target next
Num - - bound to target last
Num / - target under reticle
Num Lock - /knockdownRecovery; /dizzyRecovery; /blindRecovery; /stunRevcovery
Among my misc macros I have:
Right Mouse Button - autorun toggle
Middle Mouse Button - toggle mouse mode
R - /drag
U - bound to perform default action on target (good for looting continers on the vette from range)
P - /showPvPrating
F - /follow; /emote follows %TT
G - /diagnose
J- /dump
L - toggle light
CTRL+L - /sit; /logout;
B - /bo trans
ALT+O - Use pistol speed and accuracy stim from toolbar slots.
0 - (call bike from toolbar); /tar speed; /pause 1; /jump; /pause 1; /mount
SHIFT+0 - (callAV-21 from toolbar); /tar AV-21; /pause 1; /jump; /pause 1; /mount
+ - /mount
- - /dismount
Backspace -/loot all;
CTRL+1-4 - Various elaborate deathblows with holo emotes.
` - (key next to 1) /who Imperial
Tab - !/ - repeat last command, doesn't work much anymofre, but still does sometimes, once I work out what is going on with it then I will /bug.
APPS - /tar Self
ALT - /examine
CTRL+APPS - (eat parwan nutricake from toolbar); /pause 2; /burstRun (in case I ran out of cake)
[ and ' - cycle toolbar panes up and down
] and # - zoom radar in and out
