Pilot school : A Guide to JTL™ Group combat WingCommander™ Style
: Opening This is just a short guide to the Jump to Lightspeed™ system and how you can improve group tactics so as to help yourself and your wingmen achieve more control in a star battle, however there are some macros and binds that can help you along the way.
- : Useful macros.
- /launchmissile;This command is probably the most annoying command in the whole JTL game, if used it fires a fake missile that acts like a normal one but dose no damage, many players use these to blind other players in PVP though the use of spam but that was fixed after the CURB and now you can only fire one fake missile ever 2.5 seconds I believe. however I'm not here to teach you how to exploit in PVP, no I'm teaching you a useful command that in conjunction with a /groupchat command you can use this as a (squad leader style) tracer to show other pilots what or who your aiming at.
- tracer missile /groupchat macro
Ok now you know about /LaunchMissile; you might want to put it in to a macro along with a nice Colour groupchat bind,
- : Group chat binds
- Macro 1# [target tracer]
- /Pause 0.25;
- /launchmissile;
- /groupsay "Deploying Target tracer, available wingmen attack my target"\#ff0000 [Attack my target]
notice the \#ff0000 code, this is useful in group chat to effectively change the colour of text from default blue to a RGB format, (red green blue) this format I use a lot in my group chat binds for space.
- Macro 2# [break and attack]
- /pause 0.25;
- /groupsay "Light um up folks in coming bandits."\#ff0000 [Break off & open fire]
- Macro 3# [Form up]
- /pause 0.25;
- /groupsay "Bees break off, Time to rejoin the queen"\#00ff00 [Form on my wing]
notice how the form up command is in green and the attack command is in red, I use this colour coded method to help draw more attention to the chat commands, IE red = offensive & green & defensive.
Macros 4# & 5# [yes] & [no]
- macro [yes]
- /pause 0.25
- /groupsay "roger that commander, right away."\#00ff00 [Affirmative]
- macro [no]
- /pause 0.25
- /groupsay "sorry sir not possable at this time."\#ff0000 [Negitive]
these commands are probably the only command as a wingmen you should use, the wing command should be the only person in the group to use macros 2 & 3, as it draws confusion to the group if players just needlessly spam all these commands.
Macro 6# & 7# [radio silence] [open chat]
Macro [radio silence]
/pause 0.25
/groupsay "keep this channel clear of any communication until my orders."\#ff0000 [Requesting radio silence]
Macro [open chat]
/pause 0.25
/groupsay "This frequency is now open to free chat. "\#00ff00 [radio silence lifted]
ok you may think why did i include thses commands well heres a situation, you may glance at for no longer then 5 seconds in space.
Groupchat -Wingcommander : "keep this channel clear of any communication until my orders. [Requesting radio silence]
Groupchat - dude : "and some guy said to me I CAN PWN you"
Groupchat - Sweet : "n00b I bet he couldn't pwn a Nuna" Groupchat - dude : "oh but he kept requesting a duel then I just accepted"
Groupchat - Wingcommander : "FALL BACK TO A SAFER POSITION YOUR TO CLOSE DEADMEAT"
Groupchat - sweet : "lol kick his butt then?"
Groupchat - dude : "LOL" Groupchat - dude : "yeh, I used stopping shot on him then just knocked him down over n over with enhanced headshot"
Groupchat - sweet : "lol"
Groupchat - dude: "but I wasn't worried cos, W.T.F.!!!!!!!11111!!!!!one!!!1"
SYSTEM MESSAGE - deadmeat Was destroyed by A Deathstar
SYSTEM MESSAGE - deadmeat has died [Mission failed] Destroy the Deathstar
Groupchat -Wingcommander : "GUYS I did warn you to keep this channel free, now we have to do the damn mission over"
see what I mean. If the group chat box is full of needless chat about some one people may ignore a simple command, other players may miss vital information from the WingCommander this could mean (as above states) death of a key player. the fact that "deadmeat" didn't bother to pay attention to the groupchat is nether hear not there however because of the chat between "sweet" & "dude", "deadmeat" was not able to see the important comm from "Wingcommander" about the local threat and thus was destroyed.
These few commands may help in some way, but don't just use my commands think about using some of your own. experiment with different commands and see what works best for you.

"Cut the chatter Red 2"
I use group chat for relaying wps to wingmen... or if we are flying with a guildie that does NOT have TS.
So far we have been able to keep our TIE wing alive on 98% of missions.
Though occasionally you just gotta have some idiot named deadmeat in the group.
