When i look at these posts it makes me wonder why most of ya are playing, all ya do is **edit**, its too easy, its too hard, give us this ,give us that, fix that fix this. I was gonna flame ya all for being poor sports, and prolly quite a few of ya know who you are,but what would be the point?
There are a lot of really kewl people iv met playing this game, but there are too a lot of people who just make me plain sick, the attitude in this game is"all about me". want want want...but of course a lot of ya dont expect to have to actually work for it..ie macroes, merchant vendors,....uhm...to have a vendor should be a priveledge not a right, especially when prolly 75% of the vendors on every server have prices that are out of whack with the economy, empty or full of crap loot that no one wants.
And now the jedi fervor will set in worse then before,i wonder if there will be any non jedi at dantooine mining outpost after the next few weeks?i also wonder when they will nerf the amount of experience you need to fill up all your boxes,i wonder too when most of the jedi cancel their account because they got the most, bestest, powerful character in the game and there is nothing left to do...
Well il prolly still be playing...if any of you people that actually like to have fun wanna hang out il be there, sorry i dont do grinding tho...no macroes,so everything i do wont be a /repeat /pause 2 lol..ya it will be unpredictable, and ya it wont meet your expectations, theres stuff in this game that im sorry running a looping macro just dont cut it,and ya i might die...tho after 2 months with my combat alt he still has his newb exemptions, and ya he soloes the vettes lol
Anyways people.fire the napalm..bring out the flamethrowers..im a go swimming for awhile. just chill out, have fun,,grinding apparently isnt that much fun cuz ya all are bitching about it enuff lol,and i mean like..did you want to play SWG just so you could have a godlike character running around killing everything at will and getting the uber loots on every drop..if so why not just petition the devs for a godmode macro....if enuff of ya do it im sure the devs will cave and give it to ya..viola! no more grinding,no more bitching,no more exploring,no more exploiting, problem solved....o ya just 1 more thing...no more game.
Its a long way to the top..once ya get there look back and see what ya missed on the way up

To answer your question, yes, there are some people having fun playing SWG, though not as many as there should be.
I often find myself asking the same question. All you see are people complaining about the climb to the top. Then when they reach the top, you see them complaining about nothing to do.
Why do they even play?

I have a blast! I can't imagine why anyone would pay to play a game if they weren't having fun.
Then again perhaps there are people that really getaddicted to games. Who knows. I imagine a drug addiction is anything but fun but the addict keeps paying. Maybe the psychological addiction of the game is too much for some people to break.
At any rate, keep in mind that in true forum (particularly game forum) tradition, probably only around 20% of a given server's player base ever posts on the forums. Maybe a bit less--maybe a bit more, but it's low.
Of that percentage, 1/4 are using it for tips/tricks/help and ingame content such as auctions/advertisements, 1/4 are using it as a chat forum to talk with their friends and alleviate some of the real "grind" through the work day, and the other 1/2 are using it to criticize both constuctively and deconstructively.
By the nature of the tradition that has grown up around online forums, if you come to one and see more praise than dissatisfaction (whether it is with a game, hardware, or whatever)--please let me know as that would be one amazing consumer product!
All the people I play with ingame are having fun. Whenany of themquite having fun they log in one day, say some goodbyes, they get some "take care", "it's been fun", "sorry you are leaving", etc. and then they are gone never to be heard from again.

I wouldn't really pay $15 a month if I wasn't having fun, would I?

You can't judge the fun factor of the game based upon the mood of the forums.
I love this game and have a blast!
Why? Probably because I actually quest and discover new things onmy own rather than following a guide to earn my badges. If I really get stumped then I turn to the advice of my guildmates, then to the forums. The reason people aren't having fun is they are overly concerned with the end goal and less concerned about getting there. If you grind all day, which is never fun, how can you expect to keep the fun factor once you meet your goal?
Much of the problem here is the console gamers and their insatiable immediate gratification style of play. That's not what SWG is about. Never has been, never will be. It's about role-play, socialization, and progressing to the level you want to be.

Yes I have fun.
The problem with forums is that the voice of the minority becomes the voice of the majority. Like it's been said, a small percentage of game players post on these forums...and won't post satisfactory remarks for sure. Don't let it fool you. There are thousands others out there playing the game as it should be played...for fun.

I am having a blast!! I am exploring the galaxy. I am "killing stuff". I am not allowing myself to take this whole experience too seriously. Try it. You'll have fun as well.

I'm having a great time playing SWG.
Grinding Bounty Hunter though has made me want to flat out quit the game.. aside from that though, when I'm just running around, killing stuff, I love it.

I think forums in general are a bad representation of reality. You basically only have a few groups represented. You have people who like to impart information that they have learned. These people write thoughtful and helpful guides. You have the people who are constantly angry about the 15 dollars they have to pay "for this crappy game," these people can't seem to stop playing or posting about the game, but they will tell you up and down how much it sucks. As it is with most humans, we do not say/write anything until we are unhappy, and so what you get of course is people complaining because that is what they feel compelled to do. If you are a happy player chances are you are just reading the forums to gain information, or not reading them at all and just enjoying the game. Then you have a fair percentage of intelligant people who browse the forums at work or school or when they are not playing and who just like to converse about the game and other aspects. I kind of fall into the last category. I enjoy playing the game, and I mostly use forums to gain information about it.
Going to the enjoying subject of the game, I like it a lot. I have been playing for almost 5 months now (not a long time compared to some) and I have accomplished quite a bit. I'm a pretty good pvper (1627 pvp rating gained from a lot of raids on AH), I have 76 badges (only 3 are prof badges), I live in a big imperial city I have about 10million credits saved plus my equipment net worth (some krayt pvp weapons, various armor, food crates, rare quested items, etc). I have pretty much done most of the content (minus the deathwatch bunker and FS quests), but I enjoy the people and I enjoy the competition of pvp. I love trying to outsmart other humans in such a massive game. I search for good equipment, I find other people to fight with, I share tactics and information. Its a fun little game to play. I enjoy myself quite a bit. I am looking forward to trying out Jump to Lightspeed, and I will enjoy starting the FS quests. Although Jedi do get a bad rap, I still am going to aspire to be one. Why not? It is a whole huge facet of the game that I have not experienced, and it seems like a real challenge (even if the challenge is patience and endless grinding). It will be especially interesting since my main toon will become the Jedi. It will be fun to run around my same stomping grounds but transformed. It will also be fun to kind of roleplay the slow change. I plan on doing a theme with an image designer and make myself look more "corrupted" by the dark side (since I am an imperial in an imperial guild in an imperial city).
People who get burnt out and stop playing usually have just been playing too long. It is a rare game that can make people play it for longer than 12 months. I have NEVER played a game for that long. So I don't know why people expect to be thrilled with this game after playing it seriously for over a year, its just what happens people. You get burnt out. Move on to the next attraction, rinse repeat, then you die, lol.

The forums are here for us to discuss this game.
This game is fun. To be honest there just isnt anything better either, atm. But.... the imbalances and lack of content just drive people ridiculously insane..... and all the DEVS wanna do is basically take us off the ground and into space.... when thats not what i paid the $130 bucks in the first place......
