Thread: [Idea] Vendor Droids.

I'm not sure where to post this but...
What if DE's were able to craft Vendor Droids. These droids would allow you to place a number items, (20-100 based on merchant skills), for sale. The droid could be placed near a starport and players could purchase items from the droid just like a vendor.
If there became a flooding of droids near starports, the devs would need to develop a 'market' area. This would be an area w/booths for vendor droids. You have to pay to place your droid in a vendor booth. Only one vendor droid could be in a booth. There could be 50 or so booths. To keep things fair, maybe you can only hold a booth for a few hours a day.
What do you think? I would love to be able to go to a mall-type area in an NPC city. Let's face it, the bazaar is a joke. There are very few items worth purchasing from the bazaar.

This is a topic that has come up repeatedly on the Droid Engineer forum. The inherent problem with it is that all sales in the game require a point of sale & vendor info for the database. This likely cannot be done with droids. We're hoping that the devs can implement a system that will allow for this in the future.

As a coder I can't see how this would be to difficult. The 'point of origin' and 'vendor info' are probably stored in their own tables. All you need is a link table for both of those. The link table has droidID, pointOOID and vendorID. Doesn't seem to hard to me, but I'm sure there are other issues that go along with something like this.
Besides, just because it's hard doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. Our moto is 'if the customer wants to pay for it.. let's do it'. A little different business model I guess. I can't offer the SWG team more money to develop what I want.
