I've been away from SWG awhile, and I was wondering if there is still an active population on the ground with the advent of JTL. Are imperial/rebel clans still battling or is most of the action in space now? Has ground life changed considerably with the expansion?

I think ground life is the same as usual expept for the constant flow of people out of the game. Have noticed a lot of new players lately though (unless they are just alts for all the new jedi.)
Haven't been into space since I got stuck on a tier 4 mission. Was fun while it lasted but all the new loot and xp you need for the village is on the ground.

heh. almost no one goes in space anymore. it's exciting at first, but you get bored of space once you master and there's nothing left to do. so yeah, there still is action on the ground, that's where most of it is.

It really does feel the same as before, except with the occasional Ithorian and Sullustan, and vendors with the random ship component and chassis.
I do agree, there seem to be more new players now, be it alts, trials, or what have you - whether its a good thing or not.
At any rate.. I guess the only thing that's really changed is starport life. Now that people with JtL can access every planet and every starport from a single starship terminal, and the wait time for shuttles for people without JtL is 60 seconds, shuttleports are decidedly less (kind of, still spammers, people loading in, people hanging around, etc) you could say it's not quite the same. No more obligatory 10 minute wait groups, and the simple charm of the interaction between people there, and running into your friends from time to time.
Yes.. It really does seem like this game is drifting away from its once tightly weaved community, unless of course you're close to your guild or city, or still have a great group of friends to play with.
Don't get me wrong, space is nice, but its vast reaches can be lonely if you travel alone, and recent changes (60 sec starport waits, no more app exp, faster buffs) have cut down on interactions considerably.
Oh well, maybe it's just me and my sentimentality for the first months or so, heh, though I wouldn't trade my current state in the game for anything, of course.
Oh, and maybe the combat revamp will bring back some sort of group dynamic for combat.
Er, sorry for that long and quasi-melodramatic post. Maybe I'm getting old.

Yea I paid 30 bucks for free travel and no shuttle waits
Yup, that's me and money well spent, LOL - oh and don't forget being able to go from MOP, Dant to Lok in 15 seconds vs 15 mins like it used to be!

I don't know why everybody hates space... I got Master Pilot weeks ago and I never land...I love my YT, and my Krayt, and killing everything in sight, and sliding around stuff...
*shrug* Whatever, I'm having fun, and that's all I care about

I haven't played since I realized I suck at piloting with my joystick, and all I had left to do on the ground was grind jedi.

After I mastered Pilot I stopped going into space. Heck, I don't think I even remember how to fly.
