I have only played post-cu for a couple weeks. I know how to play, but I don'tunderstand how the system works. I'm curious about the relationship between General weapon speed, and Profession specific speed (ex: 2hand melee speed in relation to general melee speed)

I have 75 2hand speed and 34 general melee speed. my weapons speed is 2.5, yet I can only hit a target every 6-8 seconds. Is this as fast as the system allows post-cu, or can I improve on that? Is it still possible to attack every second like the old days?

If there is a guide that explains the new system, my searching has not found it.

and there was much rejoicing...

General melee speed kinda explains itself because it is used in all melee weapons

Specific melee speeds like two-handed are only used when u have a two-handed weapon equiped

So u just add the two and that is ur speed.... personally my top melee speed is 120 but you can buy clothing tapes and armor tapes to increase your speed as well if you couldnt already do that before the CU.

As mentioned in the previous post, the speeds are cumulative. A major CU change was to implement attack cooldown timers. If you watch the toolbar icon after you attack, you will notice that it stays grayed out for a little while after your attack. You may also notice that other attacks on the toolbar will stay grayed-out, but for a shorter time period than the one that you used last. Therefore it behooves you to alternate attacks, i.e., not just spam your best attack like pre-CU.

Your cumulative speed modifiers will affect the speed of your weapon, which in turn affects the duration of the cooldown timer. So a faster speed will allow you to hit quicker, however you'll still need to alternate attack specials in order to achieve maximum DPS (damage per second).

At insanely high (or low?) speeds it is possible to attack once per second by alternating specials. To achieve this you will need your modified weapon speed to be below 1.00. This is possible through a combination of:

  • high general attack speed

  • high weapontype specific attack speed

  • low weapon speed (weapon attribute)

  • CM speed buff

  • weapon type specific stim

  • speed tapes (max +25 general +25 weapon specific)

  • speed foods ?

Hope this helps!

edit: almost forgot tapes and foods

edit2: nevermind don't think there are any speed foods
