A friend of mine told me to type:
/flushG fullReset
to help with my lagging problems and then to do a "ctrl-shift-g" to view the results.
I think it helped so I am passing it on (I've seen many others say that "/flushGraphicResources fullReset" would work but it does not as my friends version actually made in-game changes).
Have fun out there intrepid adventurers!

it flushed the graphics cached in your system. not so sure about doing it every 500s as it seems to take a few seconds to clear and this would undoubtedly happen just when it would cause me to die, lol, but its really handy on comps with limited ram or poorer graphics cards, especially if you are going thru the bigger cities. As an example if you go thru Coronet and then Thead, the game actually keeps both cities cached, which can slow you down a lot.
Personally, I just recommend having 1gb of ram min. if you can afford it at all. Since I upgraded my comp 6 months or so ago, the only places I still have noticable lag are the DWB or huge live events.

I have it bound to a key. I call it my 'stop lag' key. I hit it everytime I enter a city....or leave a city after hitting the server boundary

Doing this is for people who don't have good enough systems. I would recommend to have the 1gig RAM like others have stated and focus on tweaking your ctrl-o variable similar to what Thunderheart posted a guide to awhile back. Anyone who plays with the system minimum requirements & doesn't tweak the graphics defaults will have serious game performance issues. So, in short, do this band-aid type fix until you seriously want to play without lag. It is possible even with a modem connection to play without lag even in Coronet or Theed. If you can't your doing something wrong.
Buy the extra memory and get proper advice for tweaking.

Just for the record, and for future reference, both of these are the same thing.. when you type a command, you only need to type enough of it so that the computer can understand it.. inthis case, you type in /flushg and it completes it interally to be /flushgraphicsresources.. if you typed just /flush, it'd try to do flushing shot.
I use this all the time.. for example, to mount my speeder, I just target it and type /mo, or run upto it and type /mo av (av-21).
If you start typing something out, you can push CTRL+SHIFT+TAB and it will either complete it for you, or show you all the possibilites..
eg.. you type /med and push the keys, it will bring up a list like
medicalforage
meditate
umm.. whatever other possibilities there are..
Ok, so I've kinda gone on a bit, but hope this is of some help to someone

You missed the 'S' off the end of the word graphics. That's probably why it didn't work
