This is the Game Guides section of the forums, so what better place to say it than here?

THE SWG STRATEGY GUIDE FROM PRIMA IS HORRIBLY OUTDATED!

I mean ive been playing for a while, i got the guide when i first started playing. The other day i looked into the guide to find something for reference and noticed just how bad and outdated this thing really is! We are constantly changing all the time i know, but what is so bad about issuing aupdated book every year? Perfect time would be JTL, but im sure if they're not thinking about it now, thats a long shot. But seriously, why still publish a book like this, this late in the game. Its a waste of money.

It was outdated on release day. This is why I never buy strat guides for MMPOG's as they are changing so often not even the once in a blue moon suppliments Prima puts up for download can keep up.

itll come out for JTL. but like Mo said, its outdated the second SWG came out. if you look at the Faction section, you could call a shuttle to pick you up, lol. that was never in live game, lol.

oh i agree with you and Mo, but still. It would be nice to have some sort of paperback guide that isnt COMPLETELY useless. All im asking for is that around once a year or more, someone publishes something has MORE up to date information than the last thing they put out. I get ideas at times when im not online and want to consult the book about a profession or something like that. When i get tomy guide, i find that there is nothing at all that can help me. Its just kinda frustrating to have an almost 500 page P.O.S. lying on my desk.

Yep, with one or more small patches a week and a publish approximately every month your Guide would be out of date constantly.

The Holocron (ctrl-h) and your profession forums are by far your best friend. Oh, and they cost a LOT less than the printed guides.

I agree there'll probably be one out around the JTL launch, but its most likely to concentrate on spacefaring.

The knowledgebase is what you are looking for, it *should* contain everything you need to know, and might want to know. It's not very easy to access though and doesn't get really much input all the time ...

Which they'd put it more visible in the game, like in the small toolbar with all the UI tabs, whatever that's called.

Yeah, I bought the first guide at launch time, it was horrible, so outdated it looked likeit was several years old. There were sections advertised on the cover that weren't inside it. MMORPG guides do get outdated, but generally there is some good info that lasts a long time, such as creature stats, quests, maps, and trainer locations. I was very upset with that book. Now, over a year a later, I get stung again. I go to the store and see the "quick reference guide" complete with 30 FAQS, city maps, updated stats, and most importantly - crafting schematics (one of the things left out of the first one) all in a handy spiral bound flip book. Very nice, I though, they got it right this time. Even though I feel that prima should have a turn in policy due to the complete uselessness of the first book, I chunked down my $15 anyway. At first glance it was cool, nice broken down profession boxes, aniomal stats and schematics.

Then UGH!

Upon further review, it only listed critters CL 1-10, and schematics for the starter professions, maps only gor the starter planets. WTH! Then I see it, right there in black in white in the creature section "As this is a new player guide" WTH! I thought it was a quick reference guide. It should have stated that it was a newbie guide on the cover, instead it was misleading. Its a nicely formatted book of useless information for anybody that has been playing for more than 2 weeks. Of the 30 FAQs advertised on the cover, only the customer service FAQ made it into the book. I am very very upset with this book. Thats $30 you owe me prima, for false advertising and printing useless strat guides.

DO NOT BUY THE SWG QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE.

P.S. it also claims it is colorcode for easy reference, the only color is blue.
