Thread: Vibro Lance vs Vibro long axe (?)

I just turned pikeman and got the ability to use the Vibro lance. the thing is, it does a lot less damage than the Vibro Long Axe i used until now.
So what's the deal with it? it's not faster and its not stronger. why does it take a pikeman to use it? does it have advantages i didn't notice?

you nee to find a better one with better stats...
In 2handed I used my ugly axe for like 3 boxes, it worked great. Now I got a 2handed vibro axe and it rocks to.. so if it works.. use it!

The best LVA's and VL's you will find will be from Nightsisters(Loots). The only time I use my VL is when something is weak against Electricity. Otherwise I use my LVA for the medium AP.

Yes in pvp polearms is all about dots and states. Nightsisters drop very good lances some with dots some with mods some with enhanced speed or damage some with all 3. LVA's have medium AR kinetic damage with really bad accuracy modifierswhile vibro lances have light AR and electricity damage with a little better accuracy modifiers. Most players armor has 80% or better resists to kinetic but also has the special protection against electricity which should be about 80% also.
I suggest killing nightsisters for a while untill you loot some good dots for pvp cause neither one of these weapons does very good damage in pvp. I have seen weapons dropped by nightsisters that do over 1k damage. Also keep an eye on your local trade forums since people have turned selling these things into a business.

i'm a master brawler/ master pikeman.
The only thing i use my WS crafted VL for is for killing droidekas(electric vuln). it's really handy in the geo cave. Beyond that, in PVE, you'll prolly use your WS crafted LVA about 95% of the time.

Ok all I have done is gone round shops and wrote the stats of weapons down to get an idea of what is good and what is average. I haven't yet had any made with vibro units I have got. I got units from tuskens and Jabb's missions from the Jabba palace. The ones from the palace were alot nicer.
The vibro units special stats from Jabba's quest's were:
(ok so they are at home - I'll get back to u about this, they will weapon lightening mods which means HAM is lower, and good general unbuffed use).
I have four polearms two got speed sliced and two got damage sliced.
Damage sliced Long vibro axe:
Durability : 931
Speed : 4.4
Damage : 109-377
Sliced Damage: 126-437
Wound : 52%
Ideal Range : -35 @ 0m, -35 @ 3m, -31 @7m
HAM : 70 57 27
Damage sliced vibro lance:
Durability : 928
Speed : 3.9
Damage: 97 302
Sliced Damage : 118 369
Wound : 36%
Ideal Range : -15 @ 0,3 and 5m
HAM :53 69 28
Speed sliced vibro lance:
Durability : 922
Speed : 4
Speed Sliced: 3
Damage : 96 - 301
Wound :
Ideal Range :
HAM :
Speed sliced long vibro axe:
Durability : 924
Speed : 4.5
Sliced Speed : 3.5
Damage : 107 373
Wound : 51.5%
Ideal Range : -25 @ 0,3m & -21 @ 7m
HAM : 78 66 34
I met a slicer who seems to get alot bett percentage slices so I may try my luck again with my weapons!
I have been told to look for a poison polearm as a loot drop. Any info on that appreciated.

I tend to select either elec or kinetic damage on a case by case basis, not taking into consideration ap, since most of my targets dont have it.
What happens if u have a medium piercing power hammer against a ns elder with heavy armour rating?

I think the main difference is the damage type, I like to use Vibro Lance in DWB example since the droids don't have that high lightning resists.

But you have to make sure, because the VL is only AP1 and the LVA is AP2, there are times, especially if you have a high-damage LVA, where even if the electricity resists are lower, if the mob has medium or heavy armor, you are better off using the LVA. The 50% reduction because of having a lower armor piercing rating can take out whatever advantage you might have had by the lower resists.

you should be taking ap into account even if your targets have no armor. ap = more damage period. If the target has armor you do more damage. If the target has no armor, you do more damage. so using a weapon with AP2 is ALWAYS better than using a weapon with AP0 or AP1, given that resists are equal.
