SHRINE? No clue.
For your second question, look at the post in the dev thread, 'nuff said.

Search Jedi Forum. There are plenty of posts on them. The purpose for the jedi at least is to meditate before doing their trials. I don't know what purpose (if any) it serves for the Force Sensitive person.

Patch is out tuesday the 31st.
Shrines serve two purposes.
1) They are used to get tasks for the Padawan and Jedi knight trials. You kneel before them then select meditate on the radial and they tell you what to do. If you do not qualify for the trials it just says it does nothing.
2) They are used as alternate cloning locations that only Jedi can use. They are only useful in emergencies though since you take the wounds and bf you normally would if you clone someplace you havn't stored. Plus they are usually inconvenient since they are in the middle of nowhere.
There are 5 per planet except Yavin which only has 3 since the Dark and Light enclaves are also there.
They do nothing for FS players unless you qualify for and are starting the padawan trials.
You can find waypoints on the Jedi forum.

I think the original poster meant to ask this question...
From this past Friday Feature, about half way down...
"Players who have meditated at the shrine in order to become force sensitive will meet with ambassadors from Aurilia. One of them (usually Marite) will send a message, and the player will be told where the village is. It will, of course, be possible for players to stumble across Aurilia without being ready to be guided down that path, though the Aurilians will not train anyone who is not prepared. "
From reading the TC stuff, you need a set of badges to qualify for a visit form the "old man". But this Friday Feature clearly implies that you must meditate at a shrine BEFORE you become force sensitive, which is contrary to the stuff from TC.
So, any ideas on this?

I stumbled across a couple while doing the hermits quests on Tatooine. They are out in the desert somewhere...
