Before I spend any money on SOEs, I want to know what is the cap for skill mods? Does it vary for each? And what about unarmed damage?

All defense skillmods cap at 125, other skillmods normaly don't have a cap including unarmed damage.

Not true, through professions your defense skill mods cap at 125, but with SEA's you can add another +25 to that.

It was 5 am when I wrote this and put SOE instead of SEA.... lol... But I still don't understand. So besides from defences all being capped at 150, there is no limit for anything else?

I just read another post about this and it said that the skill mods are capped at whatever you earned +25 for a piece of clothing/armor. It said that no matter what you got normally, like say you got pistoleer fencer, you can still add +25 dodge with a skill enhancer. Does this mean per item? or that you can only add +25 in all?

For a total of 25. If you had +100 from clothing, you would still only get +25 applied.

Also, on speed you can't ever exceed 1 attack per second. So depending on your skill level a speed skill mod may have no affect.
For example, I believe a master pistoleer with a +85 (not sure on exact value) would have almost no value for a speed mod. With a decent pistol speed, less than 2.5, and even with a special with a delay of 4, you would still be at 1 second per attack. I am not positive on the exact numbers, but if you work the formulas you can figure out what speed number you need to hit to be most effective.

So i can only get +25 for each piece of clothing/armor... but can i get +25 on a bandolier and +25 on a belt too? or is it only +25 total

It's +25 total, your skill may say something over 25, but only 25 of it counts.... that's why Bivoli works, food adds to your skill before the slash
skill w/o food +25 SEA
+100/+125 = 125
+100/+125 = 125
skill with food +25 SEA
+121/+146 = 146
If food added after the mod it would only add up to the +25 cap, though it would say it added more than 25!!
+100/+146 = 125
Hope this helps
