Thread: Playing other races instead of Human...ie Rodian

They need to just give all races the same stat limits, with certain exceptions. I can understand Wookiees being stronger, that I can grant. But aside from any innate special abilities (i.e. equilibrium for Zabraks, and such), the 9 basic stats should be the same for all species. The only reason I can think of as to why this is, might be so that humans (who supposedly are larger in number in the galaxy) will be so in this game.


However, the devs were willing to throw out continuity for the sake of fun (in the Jedi's case), so why not do the same here?

wookies have best ham, now they can wear armor too. Sux to be human, i should know, I am one. Wish they would give humans some combat abilities. Leadership? Only good for one class, that few, very few people are. Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing a Squad leader in the game yet. Hmm..

My main character, on Lowca, is a rodian named Oreet. Yes, our mind pool does have very low max levels (mind 1000, and secodaries around 500 or so).


I am a TK Master, so my specials eat through my mind VERY fast. My only saving quality is that Oreet is an alcoholic junk food addict. When i'm fighting, i usually have 2 +700 Brandies, and 3 Canapes in my belly at all times. Plus, as a TK Master, armor isn't needed unless PvPing, or taking on things that shoot at me, so I don't have the high encumberance that is associated with Composite armor, well, that and I have a VERY nice, VERY low encumberance Krayt Enhanced Ubese suit. When wearing the full suit, my health encumberance is under 150, action under 190, and mind under 230 (thanks to some amazing encumberance slices).

Rodians have all of their bonuses placed in their action pool. Rodians really are only good at 1 or 2 handed melee or if you want to go ranged, pick up something with pistols. Non combat wise they get a bonus to weapon crafting and always make good entertainers. I just recently picked up rifles to try it. Boy what was I thinking? (Obviously not much because of my mind penalties.)

Also, we have a species bonus that makes us less effected by a blind state.


The only thing i really don't like about being a Rodian Male is the lack of Females


But, if you max your mind pools, and eat and drink, and get low HAM cost VKs, we can be great TK Master. I rarely pvp, so i don't know how we stack up in pvp, but i can kill just about anything in the game all by myself, and most the things i can't solo are due to restrictions of my profession, not my pools (such as medium or heavy armor, or 100% kinetic resist).


And besides, one day 's will rule the Galaxy.

Thanks for your help guys...ive been contemplating re-rolling him as something else but will try a few more days combat...ill look for low HAM VK's aswell as suggested.


Only other option is to look for full mind buffs but shouldnt really have to rely on that.<dev

My hubby plays a rodian and actually rerolled and did zab then human, he is now back to Rodian I am happy to report. Said there is just too many humans and zabs around. Though he did take up two hand swords this time, Rodians get a nice racial bonus for them so why not? That being said he whipped a Trando BH that was buffed and in composite while Glyndo the purple rodian was unbuffed and unarmored. What I am trying to say is if you really want to not play a human don't give in due to stat limits, learn to use food, spice, and buffs to your advantage.


And yes there is a lack of Rodian females around thus why Glyndo married a Twi. (And my Twi's stats arent that great for my doc/tk template but there is no way I would ever reroll her)

The reason is they suck at fixing bugs . Humans used to have more reasonable maxes not this H 1k/1k/1kA 1k/1k/1k M 1k/1k/1k stuff. But in a patch where they fixed a "bug" with stats being able to go higher then intended, humans max stats raised. And I guess they figured that they had spent too much time on it already.


Or the more likly answer, which Im starting to think about alot of things, is they changed thier mind one day, that aliens should be weaker then humans (you know, but giving them the best mind AND taking out mind healing) so they fixed a "bug" and created a new "bug" that they forgot about, and never mention.

Ive always played as a human on Radiant, but have recently been messing around with a Rodian character on another server. Its been good fun and can roleplay it a bit as he's a short black pointy eared big nosed thing called Rat.


Only problem is that his mind pool is pathetic...even with all points migrated into it double brandy just doenst seem to help atall when in mass combat, and it also seems that food doesnt digest as quick as in humans.


Its no shock that I dont see that many about, probably the same with some of the other races apart from the obvious ones.


Anyone had any good success with these characters as a combat class without relying on entertainer buffs?

I've run into problems with the racial stat imbalances too. For example, I have a Twi'lek who is now a master dancer, who is capped at 700 quickness, but has only 400 stamina. Twi'leks are suppose to be an agile race, and also some of the best entertainers in the galaxy, and would have good action modifiers to back that up. The 700 quickness does reflect that too a point, but then 400 stamina just kills it, as with maxed out action stats I still run out of action while performing rather quickly unless I get a buff.

Yet sadly, Humans can pump their action subs much higher. Not only in action subs, but also in health subs, and mind subs, compared to every other race (except wookie). Zabraki are suppose to be stronger minded than other races, hence the higher willpower of 900 and 500 focus. Yet, humans dwarf zabraki still by beign able to achieve 1000 in both. Basically, any non human race takes a penalty stat wise, except for wookie and those mainly health stats anyways, compared to humans.

I don't think humans should be nerfed neccisarily stat wise. However, to be fair, I think the other mroe limited races stat wise should be able to adjust there stats like, or very close to how humans can. Make all stats for humans cap at 1000. Other races are based the same, but get +-100 or +-200 evenly distributed. So for example Twi's would get -100 in both strength and -100 in both mind sub stats, but would get +200 for both action sub stats as an example. It would leave the races unique stat wise, but it would be much more fair I think. Considering that anything but human is for the most part a penalty, especially in PvP when getting as much mind as possible is very important in surviving, things need to be evened out to encourage more use of the alien species and keep them balacned.
