A lot of people do this. To make up for the lack of survey they usually take two actions
1) Hire someone (use an alt) to survey a good spot and get sent the waypoint
2) Just drop the harvesters where you see other people with the in place

This is not as insane as it may sound. If all you are doing is mining resources to sell and have a nice continuous income, you dont really care what the resource is as long as it is a good quality. If someone is dropping multiple heavy harvesters somewhere you can usually be sure the resource is valuable.

Dropping big harversters is a real knocker, and takes a lot of credits. I know people who use the personal mineral to check first then drop with the heavy one. It's a minor costly solution for people with no survey skills.

Of course, this is true, until the nextresource shift anyway. As long as your business wont be affected, you can use some of these methods. If it does not matter to your cost/profit margin at all that is.

You don't need any artisan skills to run harvesters. The only thing Artisan does for you is let you survey to find spots to pop them down on. The harvesters will function just as they always have.
