Thread: Credit for those with 30 or 31 professions done???

Okay, after reading through some of these threads and getting a good feel for what sort of credit is going to be given out to post-publish 9 unlockers and other holo-grinders, I am not a happy camper to say the least. First, thank god for the extra week because it gives me just enough time possibly to master all 32 professions (doubtful). I am currently 4/4/4/3 Armorsmith with Weaponsmith, Droid Engineer, and Image Designer left to do. No way in hell am I gonna do ID now with the timer in place and the amount of time until publish 10. This weekend I plan on shutting myself out from the outside world and just grinding straight through WS and DE together. That is... if AS doesn't unlock for me.

Here's my gripe about this whole holo-credit thing. Now we all know that they raised the hidden professions from the original 4 or 5 or whatever it was for the first initial batch of Jedi that popped up. After the holo craze and flooding of Jedi, they raised the hidden professions to 8. Yes, that is right 8. And I know this for a fact because a well known source told me of this after he was told from a former programmer that worked on SWG last year who had inside info. Basically they extended the carrot on a stick for those who didn't unlock fast enough in order to "control" the Jedi population. That is why you don't see anyone unlocking anymore after 7 or 10 professions but in the high teens or more likely, in the uppers 20's or even all 32 professions. So now I want to know, what happens if after mastering 31 professions and it does not unlock, what do I get??? I have to do the quests, get visited by the old man, and basically start further back than where I was before the upcoming publish? I would expect the time it would take me to finish the remaining one or two professions should be reflected in the upcoming publish.

Here's the thing though. I get the strange but most likely true feeling that this holo-credit isn't going to show for your efforts. For those that did 30 or 31 professions, I am expecting that we will be pushed further back with these quests than had we done the final profession or two. If this is the case, I seriously hope they reconsider and fix it because they are going to have some very pissed off customers.

For those in the same boat as me, I wish you luck in the final days as you grind the final 2 or 3 professions. Hope you guys unlock and I can too. If not, get ready to be royally screwed by the devs of this game.

May the Grind be with us.

Me too. I always prepare for the worst with SOE.

Kind of funny how Publish 10 is due next Tuesday and they do not have an answer for us yet.

You'll have the badges to show for it - but the past two times I pointed that out, moderators deleted the posts.

It can't be because it's mere speculation - there's always plenty of that going on around here. And they weren't offensive, so the only possible explanation is that it's a truth they don't want slipping out before the Publish.

Maybe I'm wrong, but don't be surprised if the only credit you get for grinding all those profs is that you are that many badges closer to the "magic number" needed to get a visit from the old Man. At least, that's the way it seemed on TC1...

On my 30th profession, Droid Engineer. AS didn't unlock. This is ridiculous.

It seems like they bumped it up to 32 professions towards the end

Please read through the TestCenter forums to see what the unlocks are looking like now.

On TC2 so far, it seems you get a free Force Sensitive Skill unlock plus the experience to complete that tree for every holo you completed. In addition it seems those that completed many professions are getting an additional tree plus the exp to fill it in. If you ground out 30 prof's it seems that you will get 4 free trees for your holocron prof's plus an additional 5th tree and the exp.

So you may not be in as bad a position as you think. Realize you only need 6 tree's unlocked and completed to begin the padawan trials. So in your case you may only have to run 1 mission from 1 phase and grind out 1 tree to be ready to begin padawan. Honestly, what more can you ask for? If you had completely unlocked by pub 10 then you would have been given 6 trees and the exp for each then just go do trials. So, 5 out of 6 ain't bad.

there have been talk of them changing it to 8 professions, so 4 regular and 4 silent ones

makes sense. Keeps that carrot out there.

back in the day people were unlocking on 7-12 professions. Now 30+ is the norm. I wouldnt be surprised if they changed it to like 10 silents.

What about the people who did 17 professions then?

or 21...

or 25...

or like in my case 27, what about those people?

You can not treat those any different than those who did 30 or 31 professions.

Maybe they just didnt have enough time to do 30 or 31 professions because they started out a little later, they worked just as hard to get a jedi as everyone else.

It has to be scaled on the number of professions you did and you can not expect to get a jedi just because your really close, close dosent cut it my friend.

If you unlocked before publish 10 then great, you should have your jedi when it goes live but if you didnt unlock well then im sorry to sayyou fall into the other category with the rest of us. Only you will get more credit, one way oranother, for the professions mastered than people who did less professions than you did.

So if you unlock before tuesday then great, and I really hope you do.

But if you dont then you took a calculated risk and failed knowing that somehow you will still get credited. So stop bitching till you know what will happen.

This is the stupidest post I've read in awhile on the subject of what the hologrinders should get.

From what I understand, you get credit for ONLY the professions you mastered that were required for you to unlock your FSCS.

Nobody forced you to be an ass and sit there grinding out 30+ professions.

If you enjoyed the grinding, great. You had fun.

If you hated the grinding, then why the heck did you do it in the first place?

Just find yourself a couple of professions you enjoy and go out, explore, and have fun.

SOE is NOT going to reward you for wasting your own time trying to take the easy way to getting Jedi by grinding out professions like a madman. Heck, chances are a lot of you "holo-grinders" prolly just made looping macros to do 90% of the work for you anyways, so you really should be happy with whatever they decide to give you, if anything at all.

I'll admit, I started on the holo-grind once. Got Master Medic. Did not use a macro, but decided it was not worth my $15 a month to sit there grinding out random professions just for the chance of getting my FSCS.

I'm just waiting to see what the requirements are for Pub. 10, then I'll be able to keep my character the way I want him, and still get my second slot.

This is the most stupid reply i have seen to a post yet. If someone has mastered 31 profs(like myself) then surely i am only one prof away from those required to open my slot. Therefore i should be just as close in the new system as i was in the old (the post above stating that 5 trees will be filled seems fair enough to me). Just because you couldnt be bothered to put in the sametime and effort as the hologrinders did (and obviously regret it now judging by how strongly you seem to feel on the matter) doesnt mean you should start flaming us. You have put absolutely no effort into becoming a jedi so why should you be as close as those who have? (and who would have unlocked very soon if they hadnt changed the rules halfway through)...Grinding isnt 'wasting time' or boring either..I have had more variety and fun in grinding than i would have had if i had mastered one prof and stuck with it...I know about ,and have tried every prof (except ID). Lots of people ask me for advice because i have learnt a lot from the grind and i feel that i have got a lot more from this game than those people who just find 2 profs, go out ,and explore as you put it(i also have 103 badges by the way)..Why dont you just play your game..and let everyone else get on with theirs.

Alas it takes at least 33 hours of grinding ID to do it now.
