Ive read alot of threads and heard alot of advice in game about weapons and armor repair and I would appreciate any link or something resembling fact on this. I spend $$ on 100% repair tools all the time and just beat the heck out of my armor and guns when trying to fix them...so a few questions"

1.) Must a master weaponsmith / armorsmith reapair the respectivegearfor us?

2.) If the weapon / armoris sliced will it effect the outcome of the repair (ie-reduce condition significantly)?

3.) The "50% Rule"...repair must occur before 50% condition remaining in order to ensure best repair result?

Ive finally started learning how to PVP,build a template, invest in solidandadequate equipment fora fight. I just want to try to protect the investment of millions of credits and make my stuff work for me as long as I can.

Any link, previous post that I missed would be appreciated or reply advice and THANK YOU for reading and/or responding to my post.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Personally, I just cross my fingers and get ready to buy a second piece of armor. :/

Armor and weaponsmiths were supposed to be repair bonuses, its in the patch log somewhere around january, but they don't work. Basicly everyone has an equal chance of success, the only thing you can do is get a good tool and hope.

People use the 50% rule for this reason: If your peice is above 50% and you don't do a good job fixing the peice, you quite probably will lower the max condition below where it was damaged to, essentually wasting condition.

I cringe every time someone asks me to do an armor repair.

I am a Master Armorsmith, I have a dress that gives me +11 to the non-existent 'armor repair' skill, use 99.9% tools, and I fail on repairs often. While I appreciate some level of decay in crafted goods, this is unacceptable.

I think the 50% rule came up for a couple of reasons:

  1. Once your weapons and armor hit 50% condition, the stats on them (damage for weapons, resists for armor) begin to shift down. With armor this means a downward spiral of less resists/more decay with each hit.

  2. At 50% you are halfway through the useable life of the item. Anytime something gets repaired, it will take a condition hit. I believe the maximum condition loss is 50% (other than an outright failure).

I have repaired many pieces of armor, and I haven't seen an advantage to fixing items at the 50% mark. Last night, I repaired a Composite chestplate that had less than 1500 condition up to 29k. I have also purposely 'scratched' new armor and tried to repair a few dozen points and have failed. Go figure. It appears that only the quality of the tools matters during a repair, and since the rest of the system is so borked, I am starting to doubt that.

This issue really does need to be addressed by the developers.

About Weapon/Armor repair i have realized something ... your odds depends also from your Battle Fatigue ... i have tested this for myself and i usually destroy my piece if i have BF, but if i'm with little or 0 BF i tend to have better successes.

I hope it will help you.

I've never heard of anything that had to do with bf concerning weapon/armor repair...I will be sure to test this on some of my old armor real soon. Thanks for the tip.

Weapons start to lose damage at < 25%. But the point still stands...letting a weapons/armor get to their stat loss conditions can be detrimental to the life of the item.

DOH! Right you are, Noxis. I knew as soon as I hit 'submit post' that the part about weapons was inaccurate.

That would explain why my SR Combat pistol turned into a CDEF. I was wondering why I would buy such a &$*##@ pistol.I better take a look at all my other weapons.

cdef lightsaber is probably next result we will read about in re: to future weapons repair postings, lol.....

The bf is new to me, i will monitor that...and i guess the question wasnt so concerned about regular repairs to $ or exp. grinding weapons and armor (not whining, I swear!)b/c a set of buffs and 90-100 mokk missions later can easily cover costs for basic eq.

Its when you get that SWEET slice you have been wanting since you figured out how to really play combat in this game...LOL, and want to keep it! Nothing lasts forever and it keeps us playing...however, one would think that at least there would be some standard or at least rule of thumb from anumeric standpoint that we could expect.

Thanks again for reading and/or replying!
