Thread: a Weapon & Armor Repair...
People use the 50% rule for this reason: If your peice is above 50% and you don't do a good job fixing the peice, you quite probably will lower the max condition below where it was damaged to, essentually wasting condition.
- Once your weapons and armor hit 50% condition, the stats on them (damage for weapons, resists for armor) begin to shift down. With armor this means a downward spiral of less resists/more decay with each hit.
- At 50% you are halfway through the useable life of the item. Anytime something gets repaired, it will take a condition hit. I believe the maximum condition loss is 50% (other than an outright failure).
I have repaired many pieces of armor, and I haven't seen an advantage to fixing items at the 50% mark. Last night, I repaired a Composite chestplate that had less than 1500 condition up to 29k. I have also purposely 'scratched' new armor and tried to repair a few dozen points and have failed. Go figure. It appears that only the quality of the tools matters during a repair, and since the rest of the system is so borked, I am starting to doubt that.
This issue really does need to be addressed by the developers.

Weapons start to lose damage at < 25%. But the point still stands...letting a weapons/armor get to their stat loss conditions can be detrimental to the life of the item.

DOH! Right you are, Noxis. I knew as soon as I hit 'submit post' that the part about weapons was inaccurate.

That would explain why my SR Combat pistol turned into a CDEF. I was wondering why I would buy such a &$*##@ pistol.I better take a look at all my other weapons.
