Thread: Does the Giant Dune Kimo Spawm at Kimo City ever Drop GDK scales?

Ive heard rumors it does and it doesnt, had anyone recently looted a GDK scale from the spawn there?
Also.
If i Heard they drop 1-8 scales at a time now, is that true?

before the patch i killed over 30 at kimo town, got zip and havent been back.
The scales are appearing on my servers trade forum more frequently and in sets of 2-5, the last i saw was looted from kimo town...... looks like im gonna have to go back there when i get back online

Killed dozens on Kimo's at Kimo town, i hear thet can drop but are rarer that the wild spawns, and as i've never found a wild spawn that makes my chances quite low :/

They can drop from kimo town. Usually they will drop multiple scales. The reason Kimo town drops are so rare is the fact you have to wait (I think 2 hours) for the next spawn. With wild ones you just need to find them and usually multiple GDK's will spawn. So in the end you have a better chance with the wild ones because you will get more spawns and find them faster.

They drop a lot more than they used to, but it is still luck of the draw. I know one guy that killed the kimo in Kimo Town like 3 times and got scales all 3 times. I killed the damn thing like 50 times and got scales once :/
I would hire a ranger and try to find some in the wild.

This morning I killed one at kimo town and get 8 of the kimo armor segments, said it was for bone armor.

about a week ago I was killing the POI kimo and I looted 4 of the RIS scales. Since then I have killed 39 of the POI kimos without so much as an armor segment. And the spawn timer is 70 mins fyi

Kimo Town GDKs do drop RIS scales.
Ive been killing him up to 10 times per day, and looted as many as 11 from him in one shot. But he is a notoriously frugal loot dropper.Seems like he only drops some scales like every couple days at best, and thats with nonstop camping.
Your chances are much higher on the wild ones.

They're anywhere spawns. They spawn anywhere around the volcano and toward and around the lakes to the West, as well as South of the volcano. Without a ranger though, you might spend up to two hours looking for a single spawn.

lately i've been finding GDK spawns about 6k meters south of Kimotown
almost always they spawn in the flatter parts of the desert more or less near the middle of the map
they can also be found at or near the volacano
some days i luck out and find them within a half hour of starting my search and on others i wont find any at all.. i'm no ranger
most of the time I dont even bother with the GDK at kimotown as its always stolen from me there.. at least in the wild you have a way better chance of not being found.. unless there's rangers roaming around

My RIS armor suit and my friends were made totally off looted scales from the POI. I camped Kimo Town for about 3 1/2 to 4 days lol. 70min timer.
Be prepared to see "you find nothing else blah blah" a LOT.

Now wild ones... are they just 'anywhere' spawns, or can a GDK spawn from "a pile of bones"?
