Well if you are one of these people that want a little more out of the game then lvling up. If you want to meet new friends online and actually start an online life in the game. This is the time to do it. I'm starting a movement but only if enough people respond. If i like the response i'm willing to organize a movement that will envolve making a new character on a new server.

5 stars to you L3mmer - but why do I need to start a new character on a new server? Everything that is needed to do what you suggest is in place (in-game mail system and events forums etc, to arrange everything).

I guess you are going to suggest that all like-minded people get together and do this sort of stuff as a community but:

1) That removes us from all the other servers

2) I guess all the people who would apply would mostly enjoy performing - and may not make the best audience.

I think we're better off spread about the servers.

Please don't think this is a flame ! I'm 100% behind the spirit of your post ! This game offers so much potential for immersive playing and I hope those other buildings get some use soon.

I played my first gig in a theater this weekend and it was great ! The band I am in also tend to practice in a hotel - but this is usually more to avoid Cantina-spam and avoid having to refuse people asking for invites. Still - occasionally people wander in and we ask them to stay and enjoy the show ! (sometime they even do ! :smileyvery-happy

• Commandos: No decent damage and no specials but all the aggro
  
• Pistoleer: Way less damage than all the other ranged professions but has to stay close to the targets.
  
• Image Designer: Can't alter your stats anymore, so only cosmetic uses.

Working against the rest of the community is not a way to get the changes we need in place.

It would be better if we were to build a broad-reaching program of awareness and activism shared by the entire community. Get everyone on our side. Including Jedi. Including Bounty Hunters. Including everyone that is getting the attention that we have been asking for for years. As well as those that haven't, as, well, if we could create an active community group that would actually get the devs' collective ears, we could easily shift the attention to the other stunted professions as soon as we get what we want.

Why would we want the Jedi on our side? Because they seem to be the darlings of the high-ranking management/producers eyes.

How would we get them on our side? By giving them what they want in giving us what we want. Namely: they all want to be special. If the smugglers get an engaging, interesting, and amusing game which would be fun to repeat ad infinitum, they'll have no reason to move on to the boring, brain-dead (also unfun and retarded) end game of 'Hey! I'm Mr. Supersabersith XVI! I've killed 20 billion Wookiees to be assuperior as everyone else!'

Leave them alone at the top. Let them strip down and show their shiny sticks to all the other boys. Shoot those pearl necklaces they want so badly at them. I don't care much if they stroke their egos in public. They can do what they want, but turning Jedi just doesn't appeal to me. They talk funny and act strange. Let them be special and let all ten of them have their Jedi pride parades in front of the star portswhen the gamebecomes fun for the rest of us.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd love me some engaging, dynamically scripted content that requires me to think on my feet and be ready to run, rather than running a heal/buff macro and mashing F1-F4 every four seconds. I can tolerate the fact that some people are into that, and I'll be friendly and help them out when they require me to take down the Star Ravager for them.

So... let them have their own brand of specialness. Tell them that by helping us out, there will be less people that really don't want to turn Jedi from turning into one. Tell them that they will be even more special if everyone got really fun and unique content and if the devs would go back to encouraging interdependance between professions, rather than taking that away.

I think I got a little off topic. Probably because thinly veiled metaphor makes me chuckle.
