Can anyone tell me if having Survival IV Harmonious Nature(+5 Creature Harvesting and Knowledge) allows for the use of a harvestor droid without the need to get Novice Scout?

And

On the same note, does the FS Hightened Senses Surveying line allow for the use of survey tools without the need to actually have Novice Artisan?

Common folks, someone must have tested this by now.

I highly doubt it does, since you do not have the required skill to harvest by hand, you only have a skill mod that would affect it if you did.

Certification looks to work as a 'skill', so the highest probability is that Novice Scout has a hidden certification for a harvester droid. If this wasn't the case, i could simply get a creature harvesting skill tape and be able to use a harv droid after that.

Ok, so the ability to use the tools and actually perform the action is based on the "Novice Artisan" or "Novice Scout" block and not the base skill value at all?

Thought that mybey the ability to use the tools was based on the base skill value since there were no skills listed.

Was hopingthat the FS skills might add to the base and not the modified value like the tapes do and therefore allow to use the tools without having to keept he 15 pts in reserve.

Probably needs to be tested. At one point, eating chef food that added to harvest rates allowed one to use a harvest droid with no scout skills. Not sure if that's still the case.

on a similar note, does FS survival 3 give enough of a terrain navigation bonus to allow you to drop scout and not have a nightmare on hills?

i've almost got survival 1, but as im mastering swordsman at the same time, its hardly going fast
