Ryn'Thal, male Twi'lek
Clemenza Parreli
Aspiring Bounty Hunter from Mos Espa
Imperial
I think my name is ace for a lone Trandoshan who doesnt know much about his past ![]()
Im a bounty hunter
simply
Valo
well i would really be interessted what you would say about my Chars name:
Raana yaAvon. Human
Short background story:
Raanas father got lost without a trace when Raana was a young boy. Nobody knows what happend to him.So he and his mother lived by his uncle. He had been a senator of the old republic, but then joined the Galatic Empire. Raana was raised up mostly by his uncle and after some time he became his idol. The Uncle was loyal to the imperator and served on the deathstar as an officer, when he was destroyed by the rebels. So there was only one way for Raana: joining the imperial forces and showing loyalty to the imerpator, as his uncle did.
Well, after an unavoidable hiatus, we're ready to finish up page 32...
There are21 names in this set.
But before I begin, here is a suggested guide to reading my suggestions. Since I am so many names behind in the hopper, the best way to interact with this thread is to open in on two adjacent windows, and flip back and forth between. I often reference jokes or things that made it into someone's post, but if you don't read the post, you won't see how my response fits into context.
Rygian Kylorak
In the absence of a unified voice on how Zabrak are named, this name passes fine. Iwould posit that the name is human influenced - the Zabrak are independent minded but are known for their cosmopolitan nature as well. I think this is a good name.
Ayteron Nyritak
Another good name from the same author, it works for a variety of genres. I could see this as a fantasyname (same with above).
Ofig Atoos
OK, the joke is a little silly, though I will admit I would not have seen this name as an elaborate acronym without you pointing the way. Since Mon Cal are a single name species, a good compromise would be Ofigatoos, which works fine for a Mon Calamari.
Nibak Geler
I can see this as being generated with one of those naming schemes folks keep posting about in this thread. The key to seeing these is they produce two five letter names.
At any rate, like many of them, they DO work for a number of Species, being exotic, but being made of letters that are virtually guaranteed to be pronouncible.
Sarricah
I like the name and the lack of a last name. Good choices all around. I wouldn't even suggest altering it in any way.
Liloman Hammons
I like the way the names work together, but I wonder how you got "Liloman"? Lilo Hammons would flow much better, and make for an easier name to remember.
Tralmek
A fine Trandoshan name, which is noted for having hard sounds or sibilant sounds. You skipped the sibilant part, and stuck with the hard sounds. If I was to alter it, I would stick in an s or two: Traselmek, Tralmessk.
Keravi Ati
I thought that about the Ati last name, but thems the breaks. As for being "Star Wars," it works just fine.I especially like Keravi. That name makes my top list. The other name in your post, however, is just wrong.
Ajanu Me'lat
Ajanu is an interesting name, and I like it quite a bit, but if you have an interest in languages, type "ajanu" into google and try to identify the different languages that pop up. I counted three or four, going back a couple pages, before I chuckled and came back. At any rate, as for Star Warsiness, this works fine. The name moves along well, and clicks the three parts together (Ajanu) (Meh) (Lat), in a way that is quite exotic (meaning Arabic or Japanese to most people
). Good name.
Madu Pebo
Would be a disgracedBothan with that name. No self-respecting Bothan would accept a nickname or name-shortening that would mask his clan name. So there is yourroleplaying focus. As for the style of the name, I like the short, yet un-clipped nature of the name. It is almost feminine in nature, yet retains a slight edge. A good name.
Neevik
A fine Rodian name. Singlet name, long vowels, clipped ending...all are fine examples of the name style.
Womprat
I really don't know about this one. A Wookiee wouldn't be FROM Tatooine, per se, as they hadn't bothered to spread outside of Kashyyyk in any numbers. Now, being RAISED or having EMIGRATED to Tatooine would be fine, if an odd choice for the forest-loving species. Now all of those hurdles being leaped, we get to the fact that a proud tree-dwelling race wouldgenerally find being called a small, aggressive rodent would be pretty insulting. So what we have here is a fairly unique Wookiee in many ways. I imagine he doesn't run the Imperial blockade to visit Kashyyyk for Life Day either.
Sakagi Deeno
Well, Sakagi is Japanese, and you should have seen by now how I feel about Japanese names in Star Wars. That being said, the "Deeno" name is interesting because reminds one of "Dino"...which seems to be the big fashion in hunting nowadays on Tatooine. I think as a Rodian, the Deeno name fits much better than the Sakagi name.
Perum Wesche
A good name, if only because it sounds different than many of the constructions here. You use a lot of phonemes that most don't use in their names: Peh, Weh, Ruh. Wesche is a Germanic name, if I am not mistaken, but Perum seems fairly unique.
"For those of you who don't read Penny Arcade, they've expressed an interesting opinion about names in FFXI:"
Yes, while not an anime or Final Fantasy fan, I thought the strip was hilarious. I think the galaxies will become more Star Warsy when those who are inclined to do so leave for FFXI and take their immersion-wrecking names with them. ![]()
"Riis, this is an awesome thread...but WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF??? You know that this thread will never end and will be on the top of the forum forever. Pretty soon you will be begging the moderators to close it before your head explodes!!"
The answer to your question is: I enjoy it. I imagine by now SOE has at least noticed this thread, and noted my desire to have it be left alone. One post on the Dev Tracker, and this thread is finished. It's a cottage industry, and I can barely keep up with demand as it is. ![]()
Rod'dan Andreus
An interesting idea. Andreus is a fine last name, very Latin, and of course brings to mind the word "human" so you have double-whammied yourself...a human last name, that means "human." Rod'dan would perhaps be served with a little tightening, something like Rodd'an or avoiding the Rodan reference and modifying otherwise: Rod'lan, Ral'dan.
Andreus Dunepasser
Well, I discussed Andreus briefly up above, so I will just comment that Dunepasser is the most interestingly and slightly humorous two-word fusion name I have yet come across. Very unique, very atmospheric, I like it.
SETHORN KINKILER
We'll keep it all in caps. Yes, indeed, your name conveys great power and majesty, much like my man Trogdor, but I would suggest that if you want to have the name "killer of kin," you go ahead and spell it correctly. Sethorn is a nice name, filled with things we associate with strong names (Seh, Th, rn). By the way, I LOVE the idea of being a "wandereer." ![]()
Dali Vesi/Kava Vesi
A family thing! I like it. I would go ahead and say these two were kidnapped from Ryloth, and their names warped to humanistic means (thus the changes on the last name), and forced into a life of entertaining the rich pigs who bought them. Whew, I got a little excited there with the possibilities. Good luck on the characters!
Arikos Aureil
Arikos is a Greek construction, and Aureil is Latinate, so you definitely hit the high points of Western Culture there. I think as a name goes, it has a lot going for it. Starting with "A" is almost always a winner, and you have a good vowel-consonant mix.
Isobe Nevar
A good back story, a good name. It all works for me. Isobe is a modification of a name that was once common in real-life Medieval times, and kind of evokes an "Old World" flavor...the kind of name you would find from the Core Worlds, not the Outer Rim. Just a thought.
Yes, I know that I said that I would not do huge groups of names in a set anymore, but I have fallen so far behind (5 pages!) that I feel compelled to try and move on. I'll stop trying to make predictions of when I will get to names from now on.
Planet Fact for the Day:
Corellia is a five planet system that was apparently moved into place in times of great antiquity. The five planets: Corellia, Selonia, Drall, Talus, and Tralus, are arranged celestially so that they maintain a perfect gravitational balance with a space station located between Talus and Tralus. Theory is that the station, and the gigantic repulsors buried deep in the crusts of each planet, were a massive engineering project to make an ideal system for the race which built it. Now, all five planets are inhabited by the Corellian humans, the Selonians and the Drall, in a workable if unsteady agreement. The primary, Corell, has also been engineered in some way to make it very "calm" as stars go, thus cutting back on the the number of flares and prominences that can affect communications and space flight.
RbT
Thanks for your opinion on Tralmek and Liloman. But I was confused over your response to Tralmek. He is a Mon Cal, not a Trandoshan...was that a suggestion that the name would work better if I wan't Mon Cal?
Thanks and keep up the great work!

Female Twilek Smuggler/Creature Handler/Entertainer
If you wouldnt mind try this one too:
Arugala
Male Wookie
Cool thread!
I have a Bothan - Syrae Ala'yka (see sig below)
But I was wondering... my "typical" netname is Syrae Faileas (faileas is "shadow / dark reflection / ghost" in Gaelic) and I was wondering, looking at that name, what do you think?
Thanks! /bow2 ![]()
I wasn't trying to create a Rodian name. I've been using Roper Garan for ever since the first time I had to create a character for an RPG.
Claddius Glave - Zabrak Smuggler/Pistoleer
Actually the name came from a thief I played in a few D&D campaigns.
