Okay... I confess! I had to look up nihilism in my handy-dandy Webster's.

All I can say Riis is, "Touche`!". I bow to your rapier wit!

I was prepared to be dogged, in fact eagerly awaiting some verbal abuse on the overall sillyness of such a name. I was taken aback however by overall brutality of such a simple response and failed to take it as a joke but instead took it as a personal affront and thus created many a run-on sentence to express my disdain. I do accept and appreciate your apology, however limited, at having caused me offense. I am usually quite a hard person to offend, and would think even more so considering the task at hand, so perhaps I had even more a stressful day than I had thought yesterday and over reacted.

But I can state one matter as fact, it really is irritiating when a creature handler roleplayer follows you begging for the innocent animals to be spared.

That is, indeed, a fact.

Your nihilism is noted.

Have to say I'm rather displeased with that answer. While I did expect you to completly dislike it because it is, well, blank, I expected more of a "nice attempt at humor but not really suited as a role playing name" rather than a label of such a negative nature. Perhaps you take my name as an affront to your nameing practice in general and a complete opposite of what you believe a role playing name to be. Or rather, that my name in and of itself is a general act of contempt towards roleplaying. Whereas in reality the name is quite fitting to my play style. Perhaps had I told you more you would not have thought so low of me. The name originated in a fantasy game many years ago. As I play a true neutral character I didn't want to be the black knight, the white knight, or any other color of knight which represents either good or evil. So I choose to be the Blank Knight. That and I thought it was funny. As a general rule I dislike grief players, but sometimes they are funny. As a general rule I dislike PKers, but since I PKed as well ( of course I only killed players who were willing to fight IE- other Pkers) I can't fault them for thinking a live player is a much more interesting target than computer AI. As a general rule I dislike a roleplaying animal trainer (creature handler) who walks behind you begging you not to kill the innocent animals, but.. welll no I have nothing positive to say about that roleplaying experience.. As a general rule Idislike someone who uses Thee and Thou ina sentence (especially in Star Wars) but I'll still give them a chance. So basically I don't jump on a side and declare the other to be false, I try to know the person who is playing as well as how they are playing. And in that regard my attitude towards roleplaying is, well, Blank. So if you feel these playing traits, potrayed by a chosen name, represent the mentality of a terrorist, show signs of a person wanting to destroy the (roleplaying) community, or that I possess no morality, then perhaps it is your system which is flawed. Perhaps the whole "name doctor" game is, in and of itself, corrupt. And perhaps it shoudl be disbanded and rebuilt. And perhaps now I am being Nihilistic.

As to translating the name into Star Wars Galaxies, well when you go by a name for 10 years or so you grow rather attached to it. So anyone who knew me in Ultima Online, or some of the BBS games before that (which is unlikely, since I doubt many people played alot of BBS games long distance) would immediatly recognize me and say hello. So while I did (knowingly) fail at the first step in immersing myself into the star wars galaxy as a roleplayer, I feel I at least deserved an honest step through the ranking system and not just an immediate dismissal and negative remark.

Fushigishi

Well, you've heard me expound on the lack of Japanese references in the movies, and my feeling that they do not yet belong in the genre.

Two small points, the first being that while there was no direct reference to Japan, as there was no direct reference to Jamaca or the US, there was Japanese influence in Star Wars. Although potrayed as evil coniving beings, the merchant federation leaders did have distinct Japanese accents, just as jar jar was a recognizable accent. The second being, at least it doesn't end in Bacca.

In closing, I meant no disrespect for you or your game by submitting my name for you to judge. I truelly believe my name to have not only roleplaying merit, but also humorous merit.Perhaps in the future I will be more observant and realize that one such as myselfis not welcome in communities such as this and will only be treated with disdain and insult when trying to join into what appears to be an amusing pusuit. But I could offer you this small tidbit to help you rejoice in the fact it could be worse, At least I didn't use my other Ultimat Online characters name, Bleeding Duck. He is Shot Down.

<quite the snippage>

I am sorry you did not like my response. Of course I read it carefully. Rather than discuss the valid point you made, I can sum up by stating I do not judge names in any official capacity. I do this for entertainment for all, and only can offer an opinion based upon my own talent and expertise. I neither demand any name be changed, nor get especially upset when a name is rated in such a way that it displeases the user.

My service is a freely offered service, in part deadly earnest, in part completely irrelevant. It is for this reason that I can take or leave any name.

In your specific case, you offered me an excellent example of humor, and I offered a humorous response. You obviously did not see the humor in it, and thus you are displeased. For that, I apologize, but only to a certain point, because you and I both know that humor is oft misinterpreted by folks on the internet.

In the case of your wife's name, the Trade Federation voices were based off of a Thai waitress and not Japanese, a difference even greater than say, German and Italian, and the Trade Federation had no Wookiees.
