House packup is for player houses only...
Any chance this will ever apply to Guild Halls? It's just as important for Guilds to be able to maintain their decorated central meeting places as it is for player houses.
I don't know. Again, I did pass the requests posted in the test center threads.

Why Why WHY??? How hard can this be to add other structures too?
Its very difficult. I'll work to see if I can get some details on that...

Please do. Many of our characters do want to move cantinas, hospitals and PA halls (if PA halls aren't considered housing) considering the storage requirements are larger than normal housing and quite difficult to decorate in that certain manner.

Seeing my house is a Generic PA Hall
Otherwise it looks like a great feature!

I'd bet dollars to donuts that it's because the "place [profession structure]" has a different path of code than placing regular structures, and as such it would mean reworking how two placement commands work...
Thats one of the issues. Other issues include how the database stores all of the item information (locations, item specifics, etc).
Visually it pops in and pops out, but a lot happens under the hood.

this is neat !
Can we expect to see new houses in the future ? After all , there are only 3 kinds (naboo, tatooine, generic) and im bored silly with all of them !
Maybe make some new housing for Lok, Dantooine, Talus, etc
OK I know I will be shot down but any chance I would be able to place a naboo style house corillia. Being it is a style would be nice to see a few on corillia. Ok ok I will be honest I woould like to live in a naboo style medium but have no love for naboo or danto.
OK shot me down oh this is a cool thing can not wait till it hits live

How are you going to avoid the problem of Jedi packing up a house and placing it as soon as a BH attacks them?
With the new BH TEF this wouldn't be an issue...the Jedi could not enter the house.
Akaara wrote:Why can't we trade these houses?I really need to transfer some houses around to my different characters, I was waiting for this because the CSR's won't help me transfer my houses to other accounts, and I am unable to log in 2 accounts at one time. I am a little disappointed these cannot be traded. People have asked me to decorate their houses and this way, I could decorate houses in my spare time then sell them to people fully decorated. Bummer
Somewhere on these forums is a guide on how to start 2 instances of SWG on the same computer. It might be terribly laggy if you dont have a high-end system, but if you just need to do a /transferStructure between two of your accounts, it shouldnt be a problem. If I remember right it involves creating a "user.cfg" file in the SWG folder and putting some settings in a certain format inside.
If you want to sell pre-decorated houses: Just place them on your lots, decorate them, and do the /transferStructure after you got the tip or bank tip.
It is not possible to store up 50 houses in your datapad anyway because the houses still take their lots.

TH,
I'm really, really, REALLY happy to see this is comming soon. As a Mayor, this will make me less of a bad guy when I talk about redoing the layout now. I do however have a few issues with this.
As far as city structures like the cloner and garage, this is really not all that big of an issue and I'm not too upset that these are not on the list of available items to "pack up". However, I'd think that the Medical Center, Cantina and Theatre would all be on this list. These are useable for declaring residence in so are technically considered player housing after all. Please, please consider this very seriously before you say no. Even if you have to say, "It will be added to the list later", that's cool. Just please don't cut these out. I can understand the issues with the code checking to see if a player still has the required profession but this will be a huge let down to some people.
As far as PA's go, this would seem silly to exclude in any way shape or form. They are identical in lots and items held when compaired to large houses. Is this an issue where someone could pull the PA and the system would check, see no PA placed for a guild and then autodisband the guild? If it is, again please consider taking the time to get this added to this feature because our Alacio Island PA is the one structure that both the decorator and Iwould fear moving and setting back up.
All in all, VERY cool idea and seems like the implimentation has been tested quite well. I know when this was on TC, there was only one bug that was found. Props to you guys for pulling it off TC and getting it straightened out as soon as you have.
Nice FF, TH. This is s great feature you are adding to the game. Realy helpful.
Keep up the good work and now make us a Smuggler Revamp worth the name
(Hey, it's worth a shot)
