OK, this backlog has officially gotten pretty insane. I'm trying to catch up folks! Here are the page 20 names.

Nos Danoo

An all around good name marked with some originality. Well done.

Synn Rynn'kor

Another quality name. A lot of people like variations on "sin" I've noticed.

Feiqa Telamon

I think so, and not terribly Star Wars if so. The name constructions are fine.

Aron Goliothe

An interesting name. It looks good.

Ka'oan Noboru

I did your name on page 2. That was one of the posts where I couldn't change colors.

Jaas Longstrider

Sure. I like how you justify the last name by telling me he is tall.

Decadai

I don't think this one will work, except maybe as a crime lord's nickname.

Logoseen Ospooro

This will do as a Rodian name, but the first name is a little awkward, and seems to be a statement rather than a name. Perhaps some work here will improve it.

Jecht Starfire

Yeah, Jecht is pretty much fixed as that character, so it's going to be a no-no to me. Starfire is a great board game that I am sure none of you played, but it also works as a name.

Abattoir Logik

"Slaughterhouse Logic?" Hmm, I think not. Both names need some work.

Esmar Tuek

You get the red namefor tryingto sneak a minor character from my favorite Sci-Fi bookpastme. Is it a great Arabic name?Yes. Should you use it without modification? No.

Arlan Starbright

Yes to both of those names. They will work just fine.

Thomaas Lightstar

Well, the beauty of Star Wars names is you can remove extraneous letters from a Earth name and just use the sounds. So you kind of went backwards there, but both names work fine for me. I notice a huge crop of two word fusion names on this page.

Reamus Lupin

Hmm. No. Harry Potter references are quite out.

Mordeus Corporis

"Death Body?" Hmm, are you a zombie? At any rate, this name is not a great idea due to it's over-Latinization. You don't see many Latinesque names in Star Wars.

Gellor Ben'sur

The last name would serve even better on a Bothan, but I like the name and construction just fine.

Metalacca

Thankfully, your attempts to hijack an on-topic thread failed. And you know what I would say about your name.

Adramal Starstrider

A very complex name. Very nice.

Maqul Daaplor/Snar Daaplor

Maqul and Snar are great brother names! And you did a fine job making a good name that is unfamiliar yet familiar.

There they are folks! All 19 page 20 names. I hope to work on the remaining names this weekend when (thankfully in this case) traffic is much lower.

Here are some page 21 names I managed to whip up before I went mad with too many names....

Cinoss

An interesting choice for a Trandoshan, and I support it fully.

Minasan Ogenkidesuka

Yes, you are correct, not a Star Wars name at all for a number of reasons. On the Ephant Mon topic, it has been stated that the bad joke was realized after they finished everything. It originally was "Well, they'll make an action figure of him, what shall his name on the package be...he looks like an Elephant, and he looks like a Man." So it wasn't to make fun of the real (and sad) story of the Elephant Man.

Chopp Jenson

For a human it's a very fun name, for a Rodian, it's too human sounding for me. Chopp in this case reminds me of "Biggs" in the canon, and could work with a Rodian, but Jenson is well, very human. I am very very happy someone out there wears (or in this case wore) Riiswear. It's the fashion for the ages!

Temyen Freedark

I've seen Freedark from the generator. I think the name is just fine how it is.

Vericona Par'Tuuk

Vericona is an interesting choice as a first name. The "truth" is that it may be too Latin for a Twi'lek, but I think your stated goal was realized with the name.

Oomba De'Glob

Well, congratulations. Funny name, but no.

Tech San/Sqwid

Yep, two (count it three) red names. While very witty, just not working for me.

Eliza Astenon

You mean the Eliza program? Why not! But seriously, the name is quite alright with me.

Hax Gambit

Whoo! What a name! Counterstrike and Marvel all in one! Ok, ok, this may not be your goal, and actually the name fits very nicely in the Star Wars galaxy. But then again...

Lorkoth Keel

And it works fine. It sounds like something you would find on a ship.

Niksur Starlight

The name is great, but turn around that first name for a sec...Ruskin. That is a great name too!

Yes, my friends, here is where I stop again. This is approximately half the page 21 names.

Just a couple interesting facts. My last post was the 590th post on a thread that began on September 4th, and has thus run for 22 days.

I would like to thank everyone for posting their names. YES, keep them coming, and YES, I will get to them in time.

I got a flurry of the same questions recently, so I'll answer them here.

1) Do I get tired of rating names?

Yes, when it is the twentieth or so name I have done in a sitting. Normally when I get to that point I go play another game, leaving the post open, and come back at it fresh. So the 20th name is often the equivalent of the first name for me in a batch.

2) What are the best things to know about to do what you do?

I can answer this this way: Eclectics beat out specialists in this field. It is best to be a wide generalist, and be able to mine for information quickly, than to know everything about one item. Some things I know very well that helps:

a) The Star Wars movies and books. Backwards and forwards. In fandom, nothing kills street cred like messing up canon.

b) The history of the English language. We are all constrained by our language and culture. Knowing where it is and where it has been allow us to see the walls of the box we think in.

c) The history and culture of names. Fairly essential if you want to say something is "too Germanic."

d) A familiarity with other cultures and languages. See C.

3) Do you ever bluff on a name?

Yes. Especially pop culture references like Anime and such, sometimes I have to bluff a little, but I never pull anything out of my hindquarters unless I research it first (remember early in the thread when the whole Eastern European names thing happened...I researched the heck out of it!)

4) Do I get a cookie if I catch you being wrong?

Sure! Am I ever wrong is really the question, and the answer is, of course! When caught wrong, you can either defend it or admit it, and I try to admit it AND defend it. Is it possible to know everything about names, culture, literary references, and puns? No, but I bring a lot to the table, and I mine for information better than anyone I know.

Name Challenge Number 2:

All of these names are canonic Star Wars names except one.

1) Crix Maline

2) Jan Dodonna

3) Bren Derlin

4) Kyle Katarn

5) Bevel Lemelisk

Until again...

1) Crix Maline

2) Jan Dodonna

3) Bren Derlin

4) Kyle Katarn

5) Bevel Lemelisk

As long as Crix Maline is a typo, then Kyle is the answer. He was introduced in the Dark Force /Jedi Knight game series, and thus not part of Lucas'canon.

If Crix Maline was not a typo, then you are looking for just a character not part of the SWG universe, and he is the one.
