- Thinking about buying a droid? Have one and having trouble trying to use it? Want to find the best way to become a Master DE or make that perfect droid?
- Looking for some cool dice games to play with other players in SWG?
Read Yak's Droid and Droid Engineer Guide or Dice games guide at:

If you make lots of medical supplies, color-code your subcomponents. I always end up with lots of loose units and partial crates of certain subcomponents and it's easier to tell them apart if they're colored. When you make the schematic name it:
\#000000\ABEC (13/19)
Or something similar, where 000000 is the hex code for the color you want. That way you can just see how many "blue" or "green" of a specific component you have instead of comparing serial numbers. =)
Another tip:
When running faction destroy missions, base defenders will regenerate after time--IF you don't destroy the base. If you happen to pass by someone else's mission spawn and are threatened by the Rebels/Imperials who are guarding the base, kill off the defenders with impunity. But DON'T destroy the base, as this will basically be stealing the mission from the intended recipient. If you just kill the defenders, chances are they'll be respawned by the time the mission taker arrives at the target. Faction points for all!
The only way in hell that the NPC will respawn before the player reaches there mission is if they go prown at the mission terminal and crawl all the way to the mission. DON'T BE AN ARSE - LEAVE OTHERS MISSIONS ALONE - OR AT LEAST DESTROY THE BASE.
Nothing i like better then running 1.5k to destroy a base guarded by nothing for 13 faction points. - horray
Heres a tip for ya:
If you ever want to have a life again.......walk away ........no RUN away quickly from this game..............
Now comes the part of my post where I try to redeem myself for my transgressions. Let's see:
When exploring a planet, keep your overhead map turned on with Control-M. While player houses and similar structures won't appear until you're almost on top of them, other static structures will appear from much further out. These may not necessarily be anything useful, but they are certainly fun--things I've found include crashed escape pods, remnants of crashed ships, giant stone faces, stone huts, and unmarked locations such as the Tusken Village or the Darklighter residence. And, of course, you may see mobs out further, especially if they have encampments.
Tip your entertainers/medics well, and even if you're not into roleplaying, at least be conversational. They are the social classes, and they just might be bored from hanging out in the medical center all day. Don't go running into a medical center and yell "I NEED HEAL CAN SOMEBODY HEAL ME." Sit down and wait your turn. Usually I will do some minor RPing when I enter a med center, saying things like "Dharven spits something greenish-black onto the floor," "Ow, my skin and internal organs," or "Are you supposed to be able to see your bones on the outside?" This lets healers know that you need healing without being obnoxious. Then I wait. Usually I'll get a few laughs along the way, and the game is supposed to be fun after all.
If you are looking to trade or to train, keep in mind that the person you are corresponding with might have trouble finding you, might have multiple transactions going on, or might even need to go AFK for a second, so be patient. If you are offering trading or training, pick a visible, easy-to-find location (Starports are good, as are cantinas, and banks are especially good) and be prepared to hang out there for awhile. If you have to catch a shuttle in 30 seconds, it's not the best idea to /shout that you are offering to slice weapons.
Join a group sometime. Don't be intimidated by not really knowing what you're doing or not having uber-leet skills to offer. You can probably find a group who will be happy to have you along just as an additional gun--or additional target. You haven't experienced this game until you've spent some time in a group.
Don't forget that Num Lock toggles autorun on. It's like an alpha version of player mounts when trekking long distances. Just watch out in hostile territory.
If you make a camp, I have noticed that experience often seems to stop accruing after 600 points. If you've been in camp for awhile, disband that camp and start a new one to max out the experience you get from it.
When making weapon powerups, it's a lot more effective to name the powerup according to what it does. Since most powerups do about 30% to a primary stat and 15% to a secondary stat, I usually name powerups with "Primary Stat/Secondary Stat Item Name by The Crafter." So a coupler that increases Max Damage and Attack Speed would be called "Max Damage/Speed Coupler by Freeh Arms." It's much faster for the person looking over your inventory. You might also want to establish a pricing structure that lets people know how good the powerups are. Something that increases max and min damage, for example, might be more expensive than something that only increases min damage, or that decreases health and action costs, for example.
Am I redeemed in the eyes of my peers?
To expand upon Q's tip about shortening commands:
/point does not cause your character to point at your current target. You'll want to use the emote /pointat to do that. Instead, /point is short for /pointblanksingle. Doing a /point at the giant dune kimogila while holding a blaster is going to give everyone nearby a really close look. ![]()
#1. If you get a mission where the object of the mission is in a semi-circle of red dots (I had to rescue a girl from the Imps), and the red dots can easily kill you, go prone and crawl to the subject.
The red dots aggroed me when I walked up, and I would usually die. You can talk to an NPC in prone position.
Died twice before discovering this. Being sneaky can really help sometimes.
#2. If you have trapping skills, keep a tranquillizer trap(s) on a hot key. If you get aggroed by a mob that usually ends up killing you, even if you run, this may slow the mob down enough to escape.
Peace,

hey you squad leaders out there. I didn't get anything good out of /sysgroup due to the white textcolor, noone seemed to notice it in a confusing battle. Well, just do
/sys \#FF0000\ATTACK: %TT
and be sure everyone helps out...
and no, it is not possible to make aliases with colored /sysgroup messages ![]()
/me is short for '/medical forage'
AFAIK /em is emote...
This one may be controversial:
Don't accept tips for training. Mosty likely you did not have to purchase your training from the NPC trainer, so don't charge others for it. I would prefer that the people I train save their tips for entertainers and medics.
I recently hung out in the med center to get healed, but found that I was the only one there with any healing skills (meager though they are). So, I started healing people. Being that I am a Bounty Hunter, I have travelled a lot and I was able to answer many of the questions that the patients had.
I was in the med center for well over an hour answering questions and healing people. No tips...I did not receive a single tip the entire time. Now, I don't really care for me, as I have plenty of money from running the BH missions, but that reallys sucks for the other medics who rely on tips for income.
The point being, don't tip for training, tip for healing.

actualy, you have to use the full /emote, every shorter version goes to a different commmand... I think /em is for something like /embolden... I forget, I just know I kept getting the "you can't do that" type of message
