Thread: Friday Feature: June 24th, Astromech Stats Census
Shouldn't this be _A_ffected by?
And where do we find the 2% that are neither Male nor Female?
It's great to see the species stats. I really missed the Astromech stats. I too would love to see recent profession and credit supply stats. I'll bet though that whatever the profession stats are the data would be used to fuel fires on the boards where debates rage about which profession has been nerfed too much and which is too strong.
And a hint to those who wish that this offering could have been more substantive:
Feel free to express your disappointment, but pleasetry to do it in a constructive way (as some here have done).
Complaining that you don't like what you were given is not going to persuade the developers that it's worth their time to do more ofthese kinds of things. If there's something you'd rather see, saythat, and try to bepolite about it.
No guarantees, of course, but I know I'm more motivated by constructive suggestions than by empty negativity, and I suspect the devs feel the same way.

Especially since the numbers are basically the same, except now you're not as precise as you were a year ago (what happened to the decimals?), and the totals don't add to 100%.
Constructively, please show more interesting categories, especially professions, wealth stats, etc. But keep this going, it's better than past features.

I feel sorry for the poor Male species that little to no chance of ever seeing a female member of their species7 species are 1% or lower in female population
We'll just take the human women away. Once you go
you never go back. ![]()
and for those people complaining, is it possible for SOE to EVER do something without you people complaining?

I'd have to agree here, but this is better then "Hey, we're marketing a new expansion. Go out and buy it" feature
No, they're saving that one for next Friday.

Come on, Sullustans are cool, I should know, I've got one(and Ithorians are ok too).
Chiss would have been pretty pointless (much as I lve Thrawn) they're just blue-skinned, red-eyed, black-haired humans. Just think how much people would have moaned about lazy Devs and lack of customization options if Chiss had been made a playable race.
The two new races were always going to be less used than the others, for a start no old players could become one without totally re-rolling, then for new players - they're competing as two out of ten races (with humans still being the most popular race for new players to create), so the two are only ever going to be a percent of a percent. That just makes us more special
Maybe we should set aside a day some time in the next week or two as "Hug a Minority Day" to make all those 0%-ers feel special (we could arrange it to co-incide with one of the semi-regular "Slap a Rodian Day"s)!!
Chiss was the most requested selection along with Tuskens and Jawa. The point in creating a new race is to change the flavor in the game. this did zero for anyone as the stats show. The point of adding content to ANY game is for PLAYERS enjoyment, not for ONE PLAYERS enjoyment. Players did not enjoy the choices and declined to even use them sparingly.
Now go back and re-read my second and third paragraphas where I say why the Devs would have been flamed even more if they'd put Chiss in, and why ANY new species is always going to be a tiny percentage of the players. Please feel free to disagree with stuff that I've actually written, just read it first.
Ah well...I think the stats are interesting. It does actually give me a broader perspective of things. For example, I was amazed at how few Twi'leks there are in the game. I'm an entertainer and spend a lot of time in the Cantinas. In there, Twi'leks generally have a much higher than 9% (total male and female) representation. So, to someone like me, who sees Twi'leks making up nearly half of their interactions, seeing the 9% figure comes as a shock...an interesting shock, nonetheless still a shock. And, in a way, I like knowing these things. It makes me feel more unique as a Twi. And, when I think about it, the combat types that come in and out of the Cantinas...there are some Twi's, but very very few, so it makes sense.
Thinking of the connections between Twi's and Entertainers makes me think it would be VERY interesting to see some stats based on which races choose which professions?
Is the entertainer population really 30-50% Twi'lek? Are bounty hunters mostly bothans? Are Shipwrights mostly Ithorians?
That would be an interesting astromech stat. ![]()

Indeed. I'd be interested to know the overall profession breakdown, then the breakdown by species, as well. That'd be a very cool feature.

I did read it hence my response. I feel no need to refute your statements my friend as my statement speaks for itself. 3 other races were chosenby the peoplebefore these 2. In fact, these 2 races were virtually ignored in most request threads at that time. More people would have tried new races had they been something people actually wanted.
