With regards to the possibly of you and your ship being blown into atoms Im sure there will be some form of insurance in place to prevent you from spending millions time over for being blown away repeatedly.

First an appoligy, I am sorry I really dont mean to be critical guys.

I have been on since about a week after launch and not only am i not a power gamer i work hard for what i have. i have not and do not focus on crafting. my monies are earned by fighting and selling rare loots i dont want. my bank account is approx 3.2 mil. that is subtracting the three or four set's of stun armor i spend about 700k on every two weeks or so. but you can not take game content and give in to those guys and gals who only play twice a week for a few hours and make them jedi while we others have to bust our butts to get it. same with a ships. the dev's and csr's will for sure control the making of these. not only that but you can be assured like the t21 rifle any "super" weapons will not be in game for a long time. and the same can be said for the special ships.

As for the speeders. go to the corvette. finish just one of the badges and you got it. that takes an hour. go again and finish the next badge and guess what? you got another. you need two? sell the other and now you got a 5mil bank roll. there are ways of doing stuff. saying i cant or i dont want to will not make me feel that these items need to be controled and made easier for a guy who logs in for 30min to get.. the composite armor should have been controlled like the ris is. too many and now most professions cant kill the normal player short of a merical. and now we got super pvp templates? should the dev's just give you people who do not play "hard core" a set of composite armor with stun protection because you think it costs too much?

You want a good enviroment but want everyone to automatically have it all and not have to earn it. that is the first step to making the game boring. go loot aa'kuan rings on talus and get 500k per. they drop every three cycles or so. belts will get you about 120k, robes 50k and shirts about the same. these items are not bio made and so rare. go master a elite melee profession and start cleaning out bunkers looting everything and posting it on the baazar. 500 1k vibroblades is alittle chunk of change and you did nothing but farmed money and sold the resources. my first post IS realistic for those who appreciate the challenge of finding your own way. the rest see it a impossible or undesireable. ask yourself which one are you? for me the sence of accomplishment for getting myself a awsome ship is well beyond words for me atm. just like my set of ris was after farming the needed pieces and hunting the resources. Only time will tell. but i know either way i have worked for it. what if the ships are500k? are you gonna complain that i have three or four ships with all my uber loot next? what about my 5 houses? come on everyone is not equal. there are those who do and those who do not. i my friends do.............how about u?

I play almost as much as the avg pwergrinder I've seen on my server, that doesn't make me one.How are reasonable prices making the game boring? As far as I've seen it'd be a lot more fun flying a ship rantehr than doing missions for seven days straight. And how do you come out with the figure of 11 million for what will probly be only 80k worth of metal anyways? If you're looking for a server with less inflation just pm me, lol.

As forthe corvette, have you done the freakin mission? You don't jsut get the speeder, you ahve a 1 in 100 chance of getting the powerplant needed for it. I have 3 schems no powerplant, too bad schems are only worth about 100k now.

PS: If ships were 500k and you had four, good for you Have fun, as long as everybody gets to have fun along with you. It'd be good pricing keeping the economies in check and make sure that it would be at least posible to get a ship thorugh a inguild loan or whatever.Anyways... this brings up the point of guild spaceships and I like to add again those would be so freakin awesome. Oh well... time to drift away from ym frustrations with sleep

see thats just it i dont think it would be fun if everyone had the same stuff. legendary weapons are a prime example. they are legendary and that means RARE. but everyone is complaining that they dont get a chance at one. the ships should be controled. yea everyone gets the simple lower level ship for transportation. but not a war class or even a freighter. they are not cheap. look at han in the movies. he had to take a loan and he was by no means poor through most of it. im not gonna get into comparing too mush but my point is there will be no indeviduality. everyone will be the same and that too me = boring.

So lets say there was a legendary weapon drop, lets say anikin skywalkers lost light saber. does that mean that everyone should have a chance at one of there? hell anikin must have lost a lot of them. everyone is not entitled to anything. especiall if you dont earn it.

Now im just speculating but id bet money that the ships are gonna use a hell of a lot more metal and other stuff than you think. but then as with everything in this forum that is just my opinion.

I hope thing are in between both of our ideas but no one knows right now. i can say that if i see everyone flying around in the new speeders the old ones will almost completely disapear. can the same be said about the ships?

The problem is that if these things are not, broadly, affordable (and by people who join the game later) then whatever subscriptions they gain will be lost within a couple of months.

Certainly legendary ships and components should be rare and no one has a right to anything - except a decent gaming experience - but there has to be a balance. As with the main skills and objects in the game you should reasonably be able to expect to afford something as you become qualified to use it. This is the level the weapons certifications seem to operate at. As you get enough Xp to move up you will be earning money from the missions/harvesting which feed that, thus allowing you to continue.

We don't know yet whether there will be a certification based skill system linked to ships, but if there was then I would not expect to have to earn 5 million credits to buy a ship. Most expensive items in the game? Sure, but if the devs are not very very careful the whole game economy will be decimated. In a scramble for cash to buy these ships prices rocket and that hurts the very new players they want to attract and retain.

To us this is leisure, to SOE and Lucasarts its a business. I have no problem with that, but to try and predict them I think its best to look to the side of subscriptions.

How can some of you power gamers say its not fair to let non-power gamers have the same ships and such as you? They did pay the same for the game...right? They do pay the same subscription...right? So what makes it so power gamers get rewarded? If you want to play for 20,30,40, or how many ever hours a week... thats your choice. The game wasn't made to cater to thoes who play for 18 hours a day.

Of course it will be harder for non-powergamers to get better ships since they wont have as much money. Thats your reward as a power gamer... not ships that only really rich people can own,and you cant possibly think a cheap ship will be 500k or even in the millions. Becuase the AVERAGE gamer probly would have a hard time paying for it. Especially if the skill system requiers you to fly several diffrent types of ships to progress a skill tree it could cost millions and millions of dollars to advance...

As mentioned above the price of needed materials on smaller ships probly won't be too high. So smaller ships shouldn't cost to much. Figure 40-120k. The space expansion can't cater only to the supper rich. Also look at it this way.... if only the rich can have ship there wont bealot of people in space. I dont know about anyone else but i wanna see huge space battle between lots and lots of people... how boaring would it be ifspace was empty?

Thx for the backup guys, appreciate it! As for ships again:

I'm imp but I sure as hell wont be getting a TIE unless I haft to - too weak

Another quick subject switch

For the resources needed, I think the biggest ships will be factioned, and the smaller ships will only need a max of 200k metal, because with many mineral extractors, you usually only get about a third of that before the spawn is gone -And anyways it will most likely be done almost entirely in parts by different professions (this will involve everybody and make it so you don't neeed to find 200k of the exact same metal across a server for one ship)

Orinio wrote:
But how would you select where to land? Does this imply you could fly around the surface of the planet if your spaceship? That is highly improable as it would too clearly mix core and expansion gaming. What is feasible however is adding a private star port to cities where all citizens of that city could land, or visitors, sorta like a dock. maybe even go so far as t ohave a private lot you could place near your home to land on. Or if you own a large house or pa, you could land on the roof. But the landing sites are going ot have to be static, set sites.

So what if it mixes core and expansion gaming. Have you ever played a game called Anarchy Online? The expansion to that game was mixed right into the core game. People without the expansion could not recieve the buffs or trade the items that came from the expansion but, to be fair, you rarely saw anybody without the expansion.

It all depends on the server I guess. But once you get some experience with the game you'll realize that if ships were going for thatmuch people would just raise prices and kill the game straight out.

Ok my 2 cents on the planetary landing thing. I believe you will be able to land a ship at your PA Hall. As i have seen what i believe to be evidence of this fact.

Clue#1. on every guildhall there is an open space on top of the building in which you are unable to drop anything. As the game considers it to be outside space.

Clue#2. This space is at least as big as the landing space of planetary shuttles.

Clue#3. I have moved my guildhall a couple of times. Both times i have built it in an area that has trees someof which should theoretically block the view of the sky from the top of my guildhall. Both times that has not been the case as the game clears an open space view of the sky around the area on top of the guildhall.

Now i am not saying this is definative proof but it does make you think Hmmmmmm...

Anyway just my thoughts. Feel free to agree or disagree

ok you basically reitterated what i said. im not saying that power gamers alone should get them. i said that they need to be earned. and saying that you pay the same as i did is reduclious. if i open a force slot busting my butt for weeks na months? only to have some one unable to play threw whine that they cant get it? they dont have time? then i say get a game you dont need to play for hundreds of hours to make your toon grow. thats what the skill tree is about. now when it comes to ships im saying that they should not be just handed out. you dont one day decide you want sonething and go get it. you earn it by getting the materials or even OMG working for it. everyone else has. i pay 750k on avrage every two weeks for decent armor. you think you should only have to pay 20k for the same armor since you dont have time to earn the money to buy it? come on i hope the dev's dont cater to that mind set. yea some cant get great ships but that is called starting small. work your way up and stop saying they owe you for buying the game. that is the most asnine thing i have ever heard.

thankyou master ryshyaak. its nice to know that there is someone out there who does understand my drive for ENJOYING what i earn. guys im not trying to say cater to the short timers or the power gamers. just that there is a meeting point not skewed by either. yea sure make it realistically affordable to those who are not on 23 hours a day, so they can get A ship but no where near what someone who is looking for better can get.. but at the same time it has to be something that gives those who are online much more ofter a sence of accomplishment or it just feels like a waste of time. If you buy a set of bone armor for 15k and you got a bank roll of milions that armor ain't gonna mean much to you because you can just go replace. it has lost its inherent value. now if the loss of your ship means your stuck at the mercy of another gamer or even back to the old 10min waiting line then that makes that much more depth to the gaming experience. no more so than the armor decay and ware and tear on your weapons does. i dont want life to be difficult for you. i want more depth. pirates stealing your ship. space raids on your shipping route that you can go pillage and destroy a imp 22. unrealistic? is it really? or are you stuck in the mind set i want my moneys worth or this game sux's? guess what you pay the money because the game presented a challenge to you and now you grow tired of it. whats wrong didn't make jedi when you completede your holo quests? now the dev's owe you something? if your imp all i owe you is a nice warm flame bath. and if your a rebel ill buy you a set of armor and a torch to go kill imps. that is the game. that is what you pay for. se? its not out yet. i had to earn my skills. they weren't given to me. you think i wanna see ships just given away? 500k is dirt cheap to me. 5million is about where i see a shuttle like what we see at the shuttle ports. BAH i tire of this. if you get what you want you will get bored with the game like so many and leave. then the dev's are out just as much as if they make you WORK and you decide it hard....Part of the enjoyment of the game is to help others out. watch them grow. show some pride in what you do accomplish and share it with you guilds freinds and faction members. above all have fun but not at the expence of anothers account or enjoyment.
