Ralph,

Where does it show the Jublee Wheels and the Lugjack Stations in the Hotels. I know I don't see many people in the Hotel, but that should show up, just like the new player stuff.

And Who knew that Jabbas Missions generated that much money....

so SOE justifies selling credits on ebay?

Not at all. Raph was just saying that it is an outside example to see the value of the credit at a given time. It's very similar to analyzing the strength of the dollar at a currency exchange shop.

Not all that slowly--we went in and zapped the cash out of accounts that seemed to be totally ridiculous. But a lot of the duped cash is spread out at this point, since it was used in transactions. So probably everyone has SOME counterfeit credits in their possession at this point. That's why going the route of running at a deficit is a better way to go for now. The best way to track this, much as I hate to say it, is to watch the value of SWG credits on eBay. Since we closed the duping loophole, the price has more than tripled.

LOL,

I don't know why but this reply really made me laugh.

I was wondering if you have the ability to track credits that are stored in vendors and especially PA hall deeds, and if so do these graphs take into account these numbers. I am sure there are quite a few players that use PA hall deeds as safety deposit boxes for the credits since if their duping account is banned they could have an alt on admin in a structure with a PA hall deed laying on the floor with any amount of credits stored in it.

thanks

Can you make a chart on percentage of players that have X amount of money?

Like 42% of players have 0 - 100,000 credits

26% have 100,001 - 500,000 credits

etc - broken down into whatever ranges are feasible to show on a chart

Also, a chart on how many credits change hands between players each day.

If possible, broken down by the bazaar, merchant vendors, tips, bank tips, trading etc.

Both would be interesting to see.

I was looking through old ebay transactions, and found that at the release of SWG, 500k was going for $550 on ebay, it now goes for $10, this is either because of more players, more soruces of income, increase in missions, more players, dupes, and the time from which the game was first launched when having allot of money was rare.

BBC News reported it back in July, 2003

Nope, I seriously doubt that at all. The problem is a basic economic one. In order to estimate the real "value of the dollar"(or in this case value of the credit) you have to compare it to outside markets. Since there is no active connection between or trade between MMORPGs(they are all isolated economies), Ebay is about the only majorly used option where an accurate comparison can be made.

In the real world, the "strength of the american dollar" is dependant entirely on its percieved value by outside markets(ie foreign countries). So, Ebay provides that data in the case of MMORPGs and lets the devs get an accurate picture of the strength of the credit.

Personally, I think the economy is pretty bad in this game. I always remember this one quote from A New Hope said by Luke,

"10 thousand? We can get our own ship for that."

When the price of a gun cost 3 mil, and in the movies, the price of a SPACESHIP costs 10k, I think that is a problem.

They should make resources like Genosian loot and krayt tissue common. That will decrease the economy down a lot. From that I am reading from this new combat balance, then it seems like the damge on your gun is not going to be so important as it used to be. So I think it can be done.

Regarding the "watch Ebay" thing...

Law Enforcement has used that for years... keep an ear open on the streets. If drugs are expensive, they are hard to come by. The minute the price starts dropping, the cops know there is a new outfit or player in town. This does not mean police endorse or condone "the streets," it just is a very easy one-stop spot to keep tabs on what the drug cartels are doing in their neighborhood.

Disclaimer: I am NOT suggesting Ebay is the streets or sells drugs.

It's interesting if you look at the Money Out graph (second one) at the red or Vehicle Repair section. It was pretty even until 04/27 and suddenly it is increasing! Take out the vehicle repair bug in publish 8 and people have to actually repair their vehicles!
