i did it with two elite ranged players , just standard, root , snare knockdown run into the misty bit where nothing can hit you heal up and repeat process before he retreats, could probably have done it solo once i found teh misty bit, just have to have good stims or powerful heals. Got a badge but didjnt realise there was an actual quest to it come to think of it i did actually use my health crystal for this one. Ill try and solo it in a few days and let you know if it works, Im master rilfes/carbines and a dash of 0003 pistols. My friend is master bounty hunter , pistols with some other stuff thrown in (not sure what. Also took synthsteak and some dodging food

well this thread inpired me to attempt to take on the task. And yes it is possible for a tkm/mdoc to solo the katarn. The fight was always down to the wire and came down to the last bit of my mind everytime i did it. However i was not using any stim D'swhich would having helped out incredibley. So yes, it's possible for a non-jedi template to solo a level 87 Double elite red con through tanking and healing if you know your template well and use your skills wisely.

I am probably missing something here - but when I tried (ages ago) it had an insane regen rate, it healed a lot quicker than I did - what stops it regening whilst you escape into the mist?

I would love to be able to do this by myself.

I solo'd it with my non-jedi alt. MRifle/MSmug.. concussion cycle with imp headshot and a low action cycle pair like rangedshot. Post 19 you'd probably do just fine with the same template, but this time you'd be daze cycling with concussion, panic, and then delaying with startle.


None of the kash mobs have ranged damage except for blackscale and avatar.. the rest you can solo pretty easy with a good collection of roots/dazes/delays and some tactics.

P-Darts used "right" will completly break the AI and make the mob completly passive, not only rooted. and yes that's a bug, and it gets fixed with the next publish (see TC patchnotes).

well agent dib that's all nice and good. But chain dazing is also an exploit. When they put the new status effects on dazing attacks, they never added the recycle timers. And instead of just not fixing it before they put it in to the game. They just said well we'll fix in sometime in the next three patches.


Lesson to the people who take advantage of loopholes in the system. When the CU first hit test center. Faction was free on the blue frogs. SO every imperial and their mother was using an AT-ST in pvp. Because of their selfishness AT-STs got nerfed to level 60 or whatever it is that they're at now.


The obvious solution for the problem on test center would have been to just disable faction perks for testing purposes. But SOEs over use of the nerf bat cupped with the exploitation of almost every pvping imperial on the server got the AT-STs an unnessesary nerf. So there's a lesson to be learned. IF all the smugglers start taking advantage of chain dazing. Instead of SOE just adding a slightly longer cool down timer. They might just nerf all crowd control in general. Which i'm sure will end up to ranged crying over their self demise and getting the nerf bat taken to melee. Next thing ya know we'll all be fighting nunas because eveyones gotta be a jackass.

I just solo'd the Katarn last night with my Jedi and I'm not even Master Defender... It's all about strategy. When my mindpool would get low, I'd use Force Suppression and saberthrow him while my mind regens... then go up and saberarmorbreak/kd and use my headhit/powerattack/dervish. It took a couple mins, but was definitely doable.

I soloed it as TKM/MSwords and 4xxx Doc. Use food, spice, some stims, and a good pup and its nothing.

I just beat it about 5 min ago... I'm MLS, 4402 ENh, 4000 Heal and 3040 Def. I just rooted and snared him and made sure to have a bleed, armor break and dizzy on it.. killed him easily. Good luck!
