Bumping....

I'd also like to know how to macro an equip/unequip situation--possibly by using the toolbar panes if possible. My reasoning is that I have various toolbars for the different things I do and I'd like to be able to be fighting prone with my rifle (on toolbar #3), hit a macro and have it: 1) Unequip my rifle, 2) switch to my toolbar #1 (pistol), 3) equip my pistol, 4) execute a kick-up maneuver to put me on my feet.

Any help would be most appreciated!!!

Has anyone found a way to make a macro to change your weapon?

Don't bother with putting a list of abreviations, the game just takes them in alpha order (so /q is quickheal right now, but if they add something like /quack, /q will give you quack then). Any /command can be abbreviated, as long as it's long enough to get the right one. /harv works fine for harvest, /med is medicalforage (last I checked. I kept running into it when I was trying to /meditate), etc.

As for switching weapons, if you have two weapons on the hot bar, switching is as easy as hitting the other function key. I guess I just don't understand the need/desire for switching banks, weapons, and posture at the touch of one key, when it takes less than a second to do it on one bar, manually. The combat queue doesn't have anything that takes that little time where it'll make a huge difference, and unless you're starting a fight at 20m, you almost always have enough time to stand up and unequip the rifle while the mob is charging you.

Just drag the weapons/ items from your inventory to your hotbar then press the corresponding Funtion key to change item.

Aye, I know I can hit the function keys to equip/unequip. The reason we want to macro this is for convenience. For example--I use a pistol, rifle, and carbine. So! I have my pistol on toolbar 1, carbine on toolbar 2, and rifle on toolbar 3. If I'm on toolbar 3, laying prone while using the rifle and something charges up on me that I need to kill quickly (my pistol skill is way better than my rifle or carbine). I need to hit CTL+F1 to go to my pistol toolbar. Hit Shft+F12 to equip my pistol. Hit Shft+F6 to do a kick up attack.

Granted, this is not a terribly huge amount of keystrokes. But I'm lazy, and hey, they DO have macros in the game, and given they added an /equip command I'm thinking there should be a relevant way to use it. I've tried using the serial number of the item and the description of the item (with and without quotes around the name) to no avail.

So!

Does anyone know how to macro the toolbars and function keys yet, or even know if this is possible? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Timah, you're not lazy. What you're asking for is the exact same thing I'm asking for.

1) Lie down, select rifle, use special rifle ability

2) Stand up, select sword, throw trap, use special melee ability

3) Heal self

4) Harvest and loot

This should be 4 macros. Right now it requires at least 3 banks of F keys. I REALLY don't want to be paging between banks of hotkeys. The only thing we're missing is the ability to add an item selection to a complex macro. I'll keep on posting til I get that. EQ had the same problem for bards and countless people ended up with carpal tunnel from all the clicking that was required.

And to the "differently enabled" people that keep on saying, "All you have to do is drag your weapon up to the function key." Yes, I know that and you can go back to sleep. This topic is a little too advanced for you.

This could be done with a Nostromo, as can recursive macros. But why bother? It should be part of the game.

DK, I'm not sure about setting a one button command, but I like to only put armor on in the field, so I use my second hotkey bar (toggle with ctrl+~ and Ctrl+tab) and set the F1-F? to equip differnt armor pieces, (just drag the icon onto the bar from your inventory) this only takes one sec to do, as you just roll your fingers across the top row =o) so worth it to... if you're gonna travel, you gotta travel in style =oP
