Thanks for the work on this guide. I wasn't able to et on TC so all of this is totall y nwe to me. I am debating leaving, but not until I give the new changes a fair chance. I have a friend who is coming on board after ROW come out and I'd feel bad bailing on him..

Anyway, after logging on for the first time last night, I died in combat right off the bat. I was aggroed by four or five other mobs even before I started on my mission; but I also know it's because I don't know the new moves yet. I spent some time to reorganize my toolbar and add the new moves. I have a lot of questions, and this guide helps a lot, but one question wasn't addressed:

What do the icons next tour HAM and level do? I discovered you can click on them and change them. I have things like Crowd Control, Tank..Aer these different reaction types, like in KOTOR?

PS: Oh and I was insta-deathed too. I thought they fixed that?

Please help me with this question. Under those rules, how does a jedi expect to level given the critical nature of each death, and visability rules.

Sorry to tell you I' am a JEDi too and SOE don't like more JEDI on the servers! You have to group get killed by a BH cuz of VISIBILITY adn thats it ! take it or play KOTOR as simple as it sounds. Many Non-JEdi players on many servers whined about the JEDi this the JEDI that and well they won and we get the short end of the stick. If you and me and many Thousand others can't grind their JEDI nowa days just concider to Cancel and play a other game cuz they not gonna fix this insane system

ok today me(lvl 80) and my friend(lvl 80) grouped with just us 2 and pulled level 78-82 missions from mission terminals, each kill we got between 4500(lvl 78)-5500(lvl82)

we both got full xp also,no matter who did what damage

seemed pretty good to me

Yes, itsa Catch-22 situation here. As a jedi with very few skill points invested, you can't kill things at your level very efficiently (due to (a) force costs, (b) lack ofdamage dealing moves, and (c) weak weapons in comparison to your level). Thus, you practically need to be grouped to get good xp, but if you're grouped you will gain visibility.

I am not a jedi myself, but I am fully aware that this issue needs to be addressed. SonGouki, from what I hear, is a very intelligent and dedicated correspondant, so I would suggest pushing to have this placed onhis Jedi Top 5 Issues list, if it is not already. That would be the proper way to voice your concern, not starting rant/flames in random threads that will largely go unnoticed bythe devs whoare working on balance issues.

Just gonna write up a quick tip on grouping from my experiences last night.

Effective Group Selection
If you are planning to do some efficient grinding, try to have 3-4 tanks within a few levels of the group level. Healers can be of any level lower than the group level, and are definitely an asset. Ranged profs tend to draw aggro away from the tanks due to their high DPS. Thus it is important for them to have: a) stims, b) armor, c) medical skills, and/or d) healer support in case they get in trouble. Tanks should try to taunt creatures away from the ranged profs as quickly as possible if they are indanger. Knockdowns and roots (and to a lesser extent, snares) are also effective for buying your group some extra time when things get out of control.

If everyone in the group is about the same level, you should be able to handle missions a 2-or-so levels above the group level. If its a broad range of levels in your group, try doing missions 1-2 levels below group level so that you can move through the missions faster. For a big group, each lair spawns a TON of creatures, so you can often sacrifice xp per kill for ease of killing to earn xp at a better rate.

share some of the basics of how the game works now. This guide is
intended for those whohaven't been to test centerand are
wondering how to get started in the new combat system. It covers
the new toolbar icons, the new HAM bars, the new con system, and the
benefits of grouping.
Here we go, and just a lil warning, its long

Nice Tips,
