no need, the macro won't skip anything, it will queue all your armor until its done.

Really? I've had trouble with it skipping pieces of my armor when I am outside of combat.

if you ever want to locate your friend named John. I do the same thing with the /hyperspace command. I located which hyperspace location is closest to each systems space station. Then I created an alias to hyperspace to the proper point for each system. For example:

/alias naboo /hyperspace space_naboo_1

With that command all you have to do while in space is type /naboo and the timer will begin it's count down. I even have an FKey set for those emergency situations when I'm getting smoked by some high tier ships.

Now THAT is a useful tip. I will be adding it to my space toolbar next time I log in.

My tip of the week:

Ever been seporated from a friend while in space? Forgot to group on the ground, or your group member is "out of range" ?? I find this one useful both in space and on the ground, but use is more in space.

Select a toolbar button (I use the lower right, slot 23) and create a macro with the following:

/findFriend John; (where "John" is your friend's name)

/pause 10;

/ui action toolbarSlot23;

This creates a recurring loop that will seek out and update your friend's waypoint every 10 seconds. I chose 10 seconds because of the system message spam, but you can set any timer you like. Once active it will continuously seek out your friend reguardless of distance. Just be sure they are in the same system

Damn, I can't quote, I always get an error telling me, that my body (well, the article's body ) contains style and =

OF COURSE it got style, what else would you expect?

Anyway, I wanted toplay the know-it-all:

In your example, TH, the last line should read

/ui action toolbarPane00;

to get back to the default Pane, not /ui action toolbarPane01;

/shout See Devs, even TH doesn't find that very logical

If I remember correctly using this kind of macro will skip pieces. For instance, I know when I try to equip armor and in the middle of my armor coming on if I mount my swoop for some reason it skips a piece.

It's a nice tip but honestly not that useful when concerning armor. However I've found that non-armor clothing equips just as fast as it used to so there might be an advantage when doing that......but I can really only think of one profession that could benefit from that which is Jedi (in two buttons I can go from all armor to robes in 1 second).

Argh, stop using /ui action to call macros, its too fiddly compared to:

Macro name : FindJohn

/findFriend John; (where "John" is your friend's name)

/pause 10;

/macro FindJohn

And if a wp to your friend doesnt show up, go into your datapad, look at waypoints then uncheck the "Only Show Waypoints on Current Plannet" and youshould see a waypoint for your friends name.

Click on it and it will tell you which planet they are on or which space sector they are in.

Head there and do /findfriend again and you will get a wp to head to.

Another tip... need people to help you with faction missions in space?

Type /who rebel or /who imperial and you'll get a list of players in your sector that you can send tells to.

If it wasn't in, this would be a useful tip. I don't even use my armor macro anymore.

This was implemented to prevent Jedi from using force powers then macroing on a comp suit. If it were changed back then it would destroy the game even more.

This is still auseful tip, I have my armour queue macro on NUM 0 and also have a macro to put my suit of bio engineered clothes on, which removes armour and is instantaneous, on NUM Decimal.

I've found this handy when fighting Jedi with their Lightsaber damage as you may as well have the high regen rates and extra bio clothing defenses. And it's also useful just to get out of armour to chat with someone.

The macro to put your armour on can skip pieces or stop if you try to do something like get on a speeder.

I know exactly why they did it, thanks -- I read the notes they put out when it was patched out to us. Spare me the hyperbole about it "destroying the game even more" if a Jedi could quickly equip composite; he can't DO anything to you while using it anyway, so in the absolute worst case, a Jedi might use it with FR2 active to run away from you. If he's already running away from you, then, clearly he's not in a position to be much of a threat. If the developers decided that it was absolutely necessary to further limit the ability of Jedi to put on/wear armor, then the armor switch delay should've been applied *only*to Jedi characters. There's no reason whatsoever that Joe Blow the Carbineer should be forced to wait 40 seconds for his armor to pop on. It's just the sort of pointless timesink that really starts to grate on your nerves after a while.

The weapon switch timer is an equally poor idea;it gimped multi-weapon classes (think BH and Commando) more than others in an attempt to curb DOT whoring... but DOT whores still rule the day, because they can stack such an array of long-duration poisons on you that it's actually worth the 5-7 seconds each to keep cycling them. Perhaps they should've just fixed the obscene degree ofDOT stacking allowed by the current mechanics, instead of screwing with a weapon switch timer?

In short: yes, you're right. Each of these changes had a purpose behind it... but the method was a hack, and an inefficient one at that. There are much better ways to achieve the desired ends.

Because thats what computers start at. and the first number in a number line is 0, not 1.

Yes, I know that. I code myself. But, if I were to code those commands, it would be a very simple thing to have the first one numbered 01. This is something that has to ALWAYS be explained to new people.

Well done ! A condign succession of Tiggs recent "game guide" consisting
of a falsy, outdated, non-supportive cut&paste of a command list.

Are you guys completly nuts ?!?

Did you or anybody from the SOE staff actually play this game ? I mean ever ???
any MMORPG ?

Or did you simply forget, that the use of such advise has been nerfed to complete
uselessness with patch 9 (SECRETS OF THE FORCE to force customers to quit) ????

You know the patch, where all the game journals started reporting that SWG lacks content,
breaks all promises and completly sucks and now starts freaking about jedis ..
instead of fixing the core game.

Sorry this is just a slab in everybody's face who still pays for this game

Would have been sooo simple if they thought more than a nanosecond about the issues

Amour: Put a delay on UNDRESSING Jedi Robe and make wearing of a Jedi Robe madatory for ANY use of force abilities and force regeneration.
Weapon: put a delay on UNEQUIPPING any weapon with an inherent DOT-Damage-Ability.

.... but instead of thinking about the issues, SWG's devs decided to do what they always to in order to avoid using their brains while working, they pulled the nerf batton

yes, i am utterly angry about this "tip".

sorry, but it is just an insult to anyone who has played the game before the nerf.

In addition, it does not even work properly. Besides the fact, that you stay more
or less naked for about 1 min, the command queue does not process such macro properly,
anymore. Sometimes some amour/dress pices is not replaced properly.

I wasn't insulted by this thread and I've been here since the original SWG beta. The tip wasn't new by any means. But, the way I see it, there are new players here that may not have been aware of some of the things you can do with macro's. As far as the armor loading delay goes... I think it was a good change. I don't think it's wrong to require people to be more prepared for battle instead of throwing on a full suit of armor the second the enter combat. I don't find it annoying at all for it to take a few seconds longer to put on a full suit of armor. A few extra seconds isn't going to make or break my fun in game if it's going to help balance issues.
