I do think that the fact we have to group, will hurt the game for a time. I was on TC-5 and after looking for a group to kill some higher level things, like chubas and such, dang there tough, i finally found some friends.

SWG players are not used to grouping, and it will take time for them to adapt. After that, it will kick butt.

if there is any one left on the smaller servers other wise ya i agree but for smaller servers...........shadowfire is already tiny and more will leave with the CU im in a 200+ guild and only about 40 of us play and with the CU coeming.............

For the love of God, read the info on the CU BEFORE you log in to TC-5.

FACT 1: No areas in the entire game are balanced for the CU apart from the newbie mobs outside Bestine and Mos Eisley.
FACT 2: XP gain rates and creature toughness are intentionally bad at the moment, because the devs want us to test the newbie "experiance" thoroughly.
FACT 3: It is perfectly possible to solo even under the current system on CU. Ive been advancing quite steadily through Marksman and Brawler doing Mynock mission on Tatooine alone.

High-end content should not be soloable. That's why its called HIGH-END CONTENT. In all likelyhood, soloing will not be going away, it will be perfectly possible to solo all the way to Master X-Profession, but it will be slower than grouping and High-end content such as Nightsisters, Krayts, Kimos and the "special" NPCs like Nyax will be group-content. And rightly so.

I hear ya, but I think the CU and the movie will create a boost in players over the summer. I wouldn't be surprised if the overall population jumped 25-50 %. A lot will be directed to the low population servers.

hmmm....does buying something from someone's vendor count as interaction with another person?

You are right though, people will leave, but others will stay comeback or join just for that "forced" dependence.

I have solo'ed pretty much everything there is to solo in this game. Its hard to imagine someone liking loot more than me. I am worried about how effective the new loot rules will be when things go live. But then again, the most fun I've had in this game has been working with groups of people. Potentially the game could get a lot more interesting.

If it were not for armorsmiths I would have no armor, not for weaponsmiths I would have no weapons. Maybe buying off of a vendor does not count as "interaction", but without those other players, I would not last long. Which means individual players do what they enjoy and together we have a MMORPG. The point is that groups should not be mandatory, anyone who says you should have to group because this is a MMO is an idiot.

We already have forced dependance..We will have much less in the CU.

Now, you need armor to play in most cases...CU much less armor/penaltys for armor. Now you need Buffs....after CU everyone is permabuffed. So playerswill beless dependant on an AS or Doctor then they are now. They are exchanging dependance on crafters/doctors fordependanceon other combatants.

I do not run around soloing NS or krayts, and when I take these on I usually group with 1 or 2 people, however if I do not want to be required to group for XP or just general playing. From what I have heard of the CU(have not got on test yet) I am not long for this game. Instead of fixing what was wrong they are completely rewriting it. I will wait to say I quit until after I see the finished product, but I am not hopeful.

As as master swordsman/tka i can solo most stuff. I hate having to find a group just to kill stuff. EQ2 pretty much forces you to group to kill alot of things, which is why I will not play that game anymore. Forcing me to group just to kill stuff will cause me to leave this game as well.

If you don't want to group and interact with people, don't play a MMO where that's the point. Go play republic commando or some other single player game.

MMO means there are many players online at the same time... and I may choose to interact with them, it does not mean I have to group with them to enjoy the game's content
