Thread: Guide to the Game Guide Forum (Read This First)

The main reason you see SO many questions is...

a) none of the useful guides have been stickied for easy reference. Leave them open, but stickied.

b) Have you looked at the SWG discussion board lately? Thats where the questions belong; however, its mostly complaints and the gameplay questions may never get answered.

So until the game issues get ironed out, people will migrate here for questions that dont want to read the rants on the SWG discussion board or would like a straight answer instead of "its broken, like all the rest of this game, blah blah blah...". You get the idea.

Hey DEV's, just a humble suggestion on how to dramastically improve this subforum.

Re-order it so SWG Discussion is the "TOP" forum, right now the gameguides is the first one.

It's a proven fact that people will automatically click on the first forum they see and post

I know it sounds stupid, but on the forums which I maintain we did exactly as above andit worked.

Cant help to try.

What does it take to get a sticky for guides etc? I'm currently writing a ATI 9800 & SWG gameguide regarding using SWG with multiple monitors

I know a lot about message boards and this message board here was a mistake. I can't seem to figure out why a company like Sony would use such a cheap message board especially one that you have to pay for. If you want to put money to good use, try http://www.invisionboard.com. I currently have that on my web site and I tell you, it's the best message board on the planet. Visit the invision powerboard web site and check out their message board. I believe there is a way to convert the Lithium Boards to invision board. I have converted a few message boards to IPB.

Seriously, this message board is wack and the people who run don't do a good job maintaining it either. First of all, you should enforce members to post technical support in the right forum. You should also make sure that there are no double posts of the same topic to avoid confusion. Admins and moderators are put here for a reason. The reason is to control the board and make sure it's run well.

Now the other part is the server side. This message board runs on a slow server. Either that or the message board itself sucks. It's slow, lags when you click on links, and the color is simply ugly. You want a nice SWG design, ask one for IPB. IPB gives you quality and a great price. It's not only the best message board out there, but it's the most entertaining board out there.

I don't work for IPB, I'm just a user that would love to see the board here. If any of the admins here need help, please feel free to ask. I am always willing to help, if you need moderators to control.

I am offering $10,000.00 for an account with an open jedi slot. This is no joke.

ROFLMAO... Its not a jedi slot ...let me be clear.. its a force sensitive slot... its not impossible to get.... It is impossible to get that force sensitive character to become a master jedi... Due to the fact its not liek regular rule sof game....meaning you cant clone yourself and you might get total of 2 to 3 deaths ... so they are saying they havent really looked into fs slots right now cause they are busy fixing bugs... Dont look forward to fs slots for a lil while.....I think the real question is about the Vehicles and mounts.... I would love to see them come out liek real soon.

Hopefully posting good links isn't against the TOS.

For any of you crafters out there, one of the better sites is

http://www.swgcraft.com

They now host the SWG Profession Calculator (Win32 downloadable) at:

I've been too frightened to even try to use this forum... I've been hoping someone at the fansites has already done the hard work for me and garnered the useful guides from here... just hope they don't miss something.

After going through all 260+ pages and attempting to screen out various guides, I am lastly bumping THIS to the top.... and will probably resort to bumping this topic like twice a day. ugh!

Not that I should need to, it's auto-sticikied, but I think some people ignore admin-stickies.

I actually made a post about this very issue the other day, unfortuantely it went unnoticed

I'll link it and repost the content here in case anyone else on the board sees it in this thread

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=game_guides&message.id=50193

"Greetings,

It has been brought to my attention that many people are posting threads that are not related to the purpose of this forum. I will quote Xahn's thread on the purpose of the forum for you to read:

"This forum is specifically for tips and hints to the world of Star Wars Galaxies.

Here you'll find guides to different professions (which are hopefully cross posted into the Professions Forums). If you have a question about one of the guides, please ask inside the thread. I'm sure the writer will be more than happy to answer (hey, it just means you read it!).

For those of you with questions about what to do in game, please head over to your Galaxy Forum and ask there. People on your Galaxy can answer questions from the most basic to the more in depth questions regarding Star Wars Galaxies. Who knows, you might even meet some friends!"

If someone is posting something that does not belong here please use the Report Abuse to Moderator link under the rating system. In the box that pops up for why it needs to be handled please put "Off topic, non game guide". This will make it very easy for us to see what is wrong with the post and we will move it to the correct forum or close it. "

I've got a question on Player Faction headquaters. I know the bases are vulnerable to destruction during 2 hours of the day. i was just wondering if the hours where random, or are they the same?

It is two hours after you place the structure. Every day it is the same two hours.

So if you complete the structure at 8:00 pm then it is attackable every day between eight and ten.
