Talk to Flash Harrison, he's in the tree house on Kashyyyk (the new Rage of the Wookiees planet) on the 1st floor in the cantina. He starts the quest off that teaches you how to mine.
Technically I think you could just buy a mining laser and cargo hold and start mining without the quest, but either way you NEED RotW to do it.

BARC seems to be different. People are reporting the BARC can be repaired from a disabled state. One of the reasons they are selling for so much. That and the cool factor. I haven't had my BARC disabled yet but I'll sure test it if that ever happens.

I agree my BARC speeder is disabled and I called it at Eisley's garage and everytime I click on repair vehicle it says you cannot see the object please move closer to it. I tried all around the garage, no joy. If you want to fix your disabled BARC speeder you need to get one of these kits.

Its the new expansion: ROTW Rage of the Wookies. Actually the artwork for it is the frames for the forums it seems. You can only get to this planet by launching into space and then hyperspacing to Kashyyk. The expansion costs around $30.

I guess I got a special barc that can repair from disabled at any garage

Barc speeders can be repaired from disabled state... just take it to any garage pull it out and click repair and ur set... bein as im always overt by choice and hunted alot it gets disabled alot

I have the same issue, when I try to repair at garage it says you cannot see the object.
even tried the /repair like I have to do with the /clone many times when I am standing in the cloning station and it says I am too far away to use this item, and it still didnt' work.
