tapes do not go over the cap.
Im sure theres a post by a dev somewhere which states this but im not gonna go spend hours digging it up lol.
There has only een one thing the devs have ever stated exceeds the defense caps, and that is SL bonuses.
You can get your mod in Ctrl-S to say 120/135 or soemthing, showign thta you are actually over the cap.......but the hardcap IS AT 125. Even if the mod is showing at over that, it isnt. It stops counting th ebonuses at 125...it is the hardcap.......thats why they call it a hardcap.
dotn have a post dug up to link you to......but all you need to know is that tapes dont extend past the cap. Thatd negate the purpose of having a cap if you could go past it with tapes, and then add SL further on top of that. The only reason SL bonuses go past the hardcap is to actually make the SL passive skills worthwhile.

if i can dig up a old post i will but no gurantees.....its been a while since they implemented a defense cap.

I hear ya.... I thought the purpose of a hard cap was only to prevent defense stacking above and beyond 125. I guess I am a sceptic and like to see things confirmed by the devs.
It is just that I have never seen an official statementthat mentioning that clothing attachments do not stack on the cap. I see tons of people saying things like "because is just is," or "tapes don't stack" but I have never seen any official evidence to support this idea.
This is a very difficult mod to test on our own. I am not saying you are wrong, I just want to track down an official statment.

Panzer, see number 4 on this link. It indicates to me that there is at least 1 other person who ran osme testing on melee and ranged defense skill mods. What do you think? Is it possible that they do exceed the cap?
