Heh, there are gonna be some very upset entertainers in this thread.

Dont get me wrong, I dont advocate it... as I said, you're better off learning a profession by gradually making your way through it and picking up the subtle intricacies along the way.

What I meant by playstyle, is someone who macros a profession because they want the benefits of the Master box, they dont care about the profession at all, they just want the abilities.

I cant knock that, it's powergaming vs immersing yourself in the game.

An entertainer who macros up to master wont have much of a clue when it comes to performing, that is, putting on a show that players would actually stop to watch (if you've ever seen a group of entertainers that know what they are doing, then you know what I'm talking about) they can just buff, but if thats what they want to do, I personally cant judge them in any way.

Well, i am hopeing that enough good ideas bounce around here that the Dervs might get some good ideas. My intention is not to ruin anybodys game but this is a online game thats ment to have interaction. If SOE would just fix the AFK leveling macros and allow us to have 2 characters per account, then people would play more and longer. By doing this SOE would have more players for a longer length of time which equals more money for SOE in the long run. /cough /cough

/agree

All AFK leveling must go... and 2 characters per account would be great. I know that a large number of players are doing the jedi grind for the sole purpose of that second character slot and don't actually want a jedi.

SOE will never get rid of macros because people would whine and cry. I hope SOE never give us a "free second character" because it's mainlyan "I win" button for whiners who want their very own free buffbot.

But uh if they give us a second character on the same account you can only have one character on at a time.....sooooo...all is good.

I think that macros should be allowed like they've always been, in other words go back to the old system. The Holocron says that AFK macroing is ok, and Jeassa has said that too. I don't think third party, non-SWG macros are a good idea, partly because you could get banned for using them, but the in-game macro system was just fine and I don't think it should have been removed.

I have a bad feeling about this nerf

Again since they aren't PLAYing it isn't a play style. That said what the heck skill set does musician or dancer bring to a combat character? I can heal mind with novice entertainer just like I can heal action and health at novice medic. Thereare only three reasons to mastermusician or dancer1. because you enjoy the profession and play it, 2. to provide abuff bot, 3. to AFK get skill points to convert to FS points. Of those three reasons only one is a play style, the other two areexploiting a flaw in the game mechanics that let you get these skills in an automated fashion.

The changes implemented are non-events. They didn't change any macros or take away any abilities except to fly the AFK flag and start combat.

There should not be AFK play in the game it is destructive. Just look at the new player impression when you realize most of the people you see dislike the game so much they aren't there, or all the loot spawn points you can't use because some jerk has left his computer on while at work to camp the spot, or the sad shape of cantinas because instead of a few entertaining live performers you walk into a sea of macro spamming zombies. The good thing is SOE recognizes this and is committed to removing the ability to automate functions for an extended period. This isn't the same as removing the ability to automate functions, you will still get your combat macros, crafting macros, etc. You will just have to be playing the game to restart them instead of them running in an unlimited loop.

I like that idea, you still keep your macros but have to be present to use.

Since we are the subject of macros, does anyone have any good suggestions on a better way to do droid spam like coronet starport and such? I am not sure what could be done better, but all that spam makes me avoid certain starports heh. Death by spam is very unpleasant. I understand its a great way for merchants to make money and draw business, but theres got to be a better way to do it.

Perhaps the answer is not to remove Looping macros... perhaps.. this new patch that affeceted AFK combat could be a start.. if they added some of the following to it....

A. Remove the option to turn auto AFK On/off and Default set it to say 15 min.

- If you can not turn off auto afk then there is NO way to avoid the new patch that stops one from starting combat while afk..

B. Caused going AFK to stop all looping macros.

- pretty simple.. if your not there.. you can't move your character.. you can't spam, orrun yourLooping loot macro or buff people while in Bot mode

D. Made it so that ONLY movement by your character will prevent you from going auto AFK (stand in spot a for more then 15 min and you will go auto afk)

- If your not moving for 15 min then you must not be there.. so Mark me Afk... Simple as that
