In a nutshell (for any faction):

1. Take out the fighter escort by flying inside the 1000m aggro range, turn outside the turret range and let them follow you. Kill them all.

2. Take out turret number 5 (the only turret on the underside of the Vette)

3. From then on, make sure you stay in that hemispherical half-sphere blind-spot created by taking out Turret 5. If the Vette goes into what I call a "seizure" (what the game calls a turn), wait for it to straighten out again.

4. Once that blind spot is created, keep under the remaining turrets and use the A and D keys to turn, not the mouse. These keys enable you to turn completely flatlined. Make runs on the shield generators head on, again making sure to come in from the underside to keep from getting scorched by the turrets.

5. Once both generators are down, go outside turret range and come up behind the Vette (again, if it's violently bucking around, wait until it levels out). Line up with the engine exhausts and light boosters. Given your weapons, taking out the engines shouldn't take more than 4 or so shots, but given the close proximity of the gunboat/gunship hugging the engines, any shot at the engines will hit its shields and it'll start firing at you. Thus, DO NOT SLOW DOWN. If you don't get it on the first pass, keep advancing forward, as the Vette's hull will shield you from the gunboat/ship's turret fire.

Repeat until the engines go.

6. Kill the reactor (the vuln spot is a b*tch to find if you're a newbie but goes pretty quickly once you do), then shoot out the bridge by putting bolts through the viewport at the very front.

Notice I never said "kill the rest of the turrets" - if you do this correctly, the only turret you'll EVER have to kill is #5 to blind the Vette from the underside.

for the engines its poissible to approach from the gunboat blindspot underneath and never get shot at. just come in from directly below the gunboats and when you get in range go full stop and shoot the engines (you have to hit the yellow "exhaust" dead on). once they are down boost out cause the gunboats are gonna have to manuver to go around the vette and continue on, you dont want to be sitting there when they turn over and light you up, build up speed asap and get outta there.

after you take out the engines you cant hit the reactor from out of the other turret's arc of fire (unless you got ordnance). thats ok though because the other turrets CAN be taken out from just outside their arc.

so after you kill the engines hit the remaining guns by creeping up from the side slowly until you expose the two guns on that side. shoot them, and repeat for the other side. then creep up a bit more and hit the top turret. after that your all set.

It's unfortunate that they made it act so obnoxious when it turns. It is supposed to be a small capital ship. It should turn in slow, graceful arcs. Ah well...

*lol*.. i just watched the rebel corvette in awe. that thing is dancing and twisting faster than most fighters and looks plain silly when its batting the gunship around like a baseball bat. of course, after a few minutes you begin wondering whats wrong with it anyway.

If your carefull anyone can solo a vette- even without bomber strike. Follow the earlier advice and pull all the escort craft out and kill them. then do a few strafing runs trying to kill 1 turret each time. after the turretts are off of the vette kill the engines on the gunboats and then blow them up. then lazily kill off the other components on teh vette. I've killed no less than 50 vettes this way- 6 of them the kessel variant with gunboats. no sweat.

if your an imp on corbantis add me to your friends list- i'll gladly help you kill one of these off so you can master.

I took a couple of runs at it...all ended up the same way...with my ship exanding rapidly in vapor form...

There is a point in its flight path where it runs through a spawn of NPC rebels...but even trying to get a couple of shots in while the NPC's drewsome fireended up badly...I tip my cap to anyone who can solo this thing.

I have to wonder if there are other pilots out there on Gorath who need to take this thing down to make master...could we set up a time maybe and all attack at once?

well they had to do something to protect it from the blind-spot exploiters, too bad it's not enough. They should have put at least 3 turrets on each side, or make the turrets have x 3 the amount of hitpoints they have now.

you should just go to cnet starport and search for people with the appropiate titles there, it would be more effective
