Thread: Area attack? is this supposed to work this way and why?

I've noticed this bug for a while now (even more now that I'm grinding Jedi). When doing the holo-grind if I engaged with more than 5 mobs from the lair, the 6th one that spawned although combat log and letters above the mobs head states I'm hitting the creature I do no damage (no numerical damage is stated above head)and the creature does not agro me. As soon as I kill one of the 5, I then get agroed by the creature and I start to do damage.


I'm not sure what the problem is, but I do know it also happens when I almost have a mob dead and they run from me.....I can no longer do any damage to them unless I specificly target them. In other wards, the mob is pressing its peace button and running and unless I have it targeted specificly my Area attack does not damage it at all.


Not a big deal but if the creatures are using an exploit to prevent me from d/b....they should be banned

I think its only a bug with pistol. I use 2H weapons and my spin attack works as intended with a small glitch. When I use the AOE, everything within range takes a hit, and usually aggro's, and I can see that I damaged them, even the innocent bystanders unfortunate enough to be within range.

The glitch is after I do the AOE, my primary target sometimes switches to a different one than I started with. Sometimes it'll target something out of range and I just stand there and take no more swings until I retarget something next to me and /attack or use a special.

Nope this is a bug with all area attacks. I know because I Mastered every Mele & Ranged profession.....it happend every time with the mele because I used the area attacks to grind fast.


Now that I'm a Jedi its the same exact thing. Its not profession specific, its a combat bug. I've even noticed this bug in the Geno cave when the Mercs spawn 20-30 at a time.....if I'm engaged with 5 at a time, the other Spawned Mercs just stand there and although the it states above their head I'm hitting them in the body, legs, mind, I do no damage until they actually agro me (which is after I kill one of the five mobs)

You are somewhat right, if stuff does come into range then you can hit them (BUT ononly if they aggro u) If you stand there and do nothing, you don't hit. I'm still going to try this later in pvp, have someone duel 2 other people, Have one in peace mode, the other not (the one that is targeted) Do area attack, see if the peace'd person gets damaged. I'm almost sure they won't because like I said, I was rifleman using dot weapons and thought with my 300 str mind poison rifle I could wipe out groups of people easier with strafe2, but to my dismay, my poison only landed the person I was targeted on. Took me forever to figure out why it wasn't working right. I was in a group myself and the people I was fighting with were either not engaged or targeting something else.

Forgot about that bug, thought you were talking about another one. I see this with night sisters mostly.

If you attack them and they go into retreat mode the AOE quits working on them even though they are the primary target, you shot at them and the floaters are flying off them. They just sit there with the little sliver of health.

I Have to stop, clear my queue, sometimes change weapons and use a non AOE to finfish them off.





Very annoying with Janta/Mokk too.
