Thread: lightsaber colours
mesan wrote:Saber colours are basically blue, green, red, purple, orange , yellow, brown (another yellow type really) with variations of light and dark with certain ones. The "rare" ones are the special named colour crystals such as Sunrider's Destiny and Bane's Heart which are a quest reward and loot drop respectively. The Sunrider is a nice teal colour and the Bane's is a red crystal. The Jedi themselves are supposed to use mainly green and blue. Blue for Jedi Guardians skilled in using Jedi combat techniques, green for the Jedi Sentinels who are more adept force wielders and yellow for Jedi Consulars, a more diplomatic type of Jedi. The red sabres of the Sith are supposed to derive from the synthetic crystals crafted by the Sith themselves rather than the naturally occuring ones used by the Jedi.Steno RaldianJedi PadawanFarstar-European
Errrrrm Yellow is a rare natural crystal. Blue is also natural though more common. Green can only be created synthetically. Red is a synthetic crystal that is created by Dark Jedi by them using the dark side to manipulate their crystals making them more powerful.
Windu's purple saber in AotC and RotS doesn't use crystals. I don't know how his works though

You are absolutely correct I did get them the wrong way round. The KOTOR background states:
"Blue are for "Jedi Guardians" who are great fighters and users of the physical espects of the Force.
Green are for "Jedi Consulars" who have great skill in diplomacy and are advanced users of the Force.
Yellow are for "Jedi Sentinels" who have an excellent awareness and have moderate skills in both physical and other uses of the Force. "
Another EU (I know its significance is limited in terms of SWG) source states:
"Before the battle of Ruusan, Jedi had access to that world's crystal deposits and crystals of every known hue. With the detonation of the Sith thought bomb, Ruusan crystals became unavailable. During Attack of the Clones, Jedi could only use crystals retrieved from the caves of Ilum. As a result, the blades of their weapons were always blue, or green--the only colours those crystals could produce. Of course, Mace Windu, and later, Luke Skywalker, used an ancient force tradition of imbuing regular crystals with the power of the Force, causing a variety of colours. "

Glad to see you got your info from KOTOR lol, well sorry to say but you already messed up. Sentinel=Yellow Consular= Green, but colors don't mean what your "rank" is, cause then the whole consul would be using green sabers then right? Colors are chosen from liking not forced upon. As for the sith, I do not recall them doing that, Sabers for the Sith don't mean anything, as long as they have a saber they won't go "oh you know what, I don't like my green saber, I think I am going to go look for a red one."
