Thread: Y-8 Mining Guide (Working around the known bugs)
cos it don't pull anything
i have only tryed it solo at the moment but im gonna try it with a crew soon.
I tried this setup and was thrilled to see that i could fire the tractor beam from the pilot seat while the beam was placed in the lower turret...but it doesnt work
The tractor beam appears to fire but it doesnt actually bring in any asteroids.
Its cool and nice to mine with the Y-8 but i have to stick with a large cargo hold and one mining laser.
In the end its faster to mine with a B-wing or similar (something with at least 2 sp weapons). I can load a crewman to handle the tractor/turret but then we have the issue with the fire arc and i think tractor turrets dont work as they should (IE they dont bring in the asteroids, even though manned by a player)
So Y-8, large bugged thing that is obsolute when it comes to mining.
I've hit this problem (well not really problem, read on) several times in both Y-8 and a fighter class ship, all thats happened is the current asteroid has been "used up". Keep blasting the living hell out of it until it totally blows up. Give it a second or two and a new one will spawn ripe for mining.
On occasions I've found moving away from it (around the 700m mark) then going back to it and everything works as normal. Give it a try.
Right now I can't see why SOE even bothered to do this Y-8 Mining Ship. It's not usable.

Anyone else notice you can't move items you drop on your ship up or down?
Yes. You get a player_structure:[error_move_item] error. I'm waiting for this to get fixed to properly furnish the ship. Bah.

personly all i want is an appoligy or them to remove the guide from thier website. i will settel for an appoligy unless someone cashhed in on my guide as this website pays for guides as i understand.

Well, if that's the case, they violated your copyright. If someone else sold them your material without your permission then it turns criminal.
also if an astroid has released around 4 to 8 chunks that have not been destroyed the astroid no longer spawns chunks and thus needs to be destroyed its self.
outher bugs include a reactor plasma conduit beeing placed behind a wall making it unaccsessable
lack of a loot box, tractor beams are still camp (gay)
and don't work blah blah blah
