Assuming these worked correctly and all the required parts could be looted, is this item with you for life?

As in, can I take it out of the DWB, then when I need to go again, I can take it with me? Or does it expire when you leave?

Cheers

Toanswer a few questions on this topic (I hope)....The rebreathers can be looted off the Miners/Technicians NPCs in the DWB. So don't bother with the unlootable versions in the loot bins. Once looted it stays in inventory (or safety deposit box) for life (or until deleted) and can't be traded. Once you have looted the Alum Gel Pack,I took my crafter down into the DWB with a group to make the enhanced filters by going to the rebreather filter dispenser and getting filters. Then combining the rebreather filters with the Alum Gel Pack to make enhanced filters at the workbench next to the filter dispenser. Once made, I traded the enhanced filters to everyone on the team. They then used to workbench which has another radial option to combine the enhanced filters with the rebreather. Since most of our group is typically jedi, its not an issue to leave these equiped. I actually leave mine equiped all the time and don't ever have to think about it since I can't wear a helmet anyway.

Its nice to have and lasts forever. Hope this helps. I don't always check this thread, so feel free to send a PM to me with further questions.

Regards,

Roden

P.S. The location of the workbench is in the room where the rebreather quest is started. I would use the popular map that has floating around. Basically you go straight instead of down the ramp to where the mine door is located and followed the path around to the left.

Excellent. Thank you muchly for the reply

UPDATE! Although not worth much. but worth noting I guess. Since I leave this equipped at all times, I just did an Acklay run and noticed an on screen message that both areas in the Geo caves with poison gas do not effect you with the enhanced rebreather on. The system message says something about the posion gas being filtered out.

Anyway, just thought I provide that extra tid bit.

Is it easy to loot a rebreather from the scientists and technicians or does it have a really low drop chance like some of the other stuff in the bunker?

The rebreather and the alum mine gel pack drop fairly frequently from the miners/technicians.

I just got my first re-fitted rebreather today and it works like a charm

BTW as someone pointed out this item cannot be traded, so you can either have it on the inventory or put it in the bank when you aren't going to use it.

Do you need engineering 2 in Artisan to craft the modified rebreather?

No, you do not need *any* artisan if you have the original rebreather and you want to refit it with the enhanced filter (it is only the enhanced filter which must be enhanced by the artisan by combining alum mine gel packet and filter). For both actions, you need simply use the radial on the workbench in the appropriate room of the DWB.

In other words, 1 artisan can combine the enhanced filters for 1 or 2 groups.

Just thought of another question

Does the Artisan need to be un-agro'd to get a filter and then craft the enhanced filter?
Or can this be done whether agro'd or not?

Also, the same question for assembly of the final enhanced rebreather.

I tried today, youCAN pull filters from the dispenser and use the workbench while under attack

I was never agrod when working at the workbench, so can't say if it works for sure when agrod. There are a couple Battle Droids and a acouple SBDs (which usually runs out to great you). So we always cleared the room of hostiles and then proceeded to modify the rebreathers.

If I had to guess, I bet it would not make a difference since it functions off the radial menu option with no text conversation. What i mean by that is, usually being agrod causes a problem when trying to use a radial option that results in some king of conversation. For instance, using the droids in the foreman's quest (the medical for the alum sickness cure and the other droid to clean the batteries). They have a text box that pops up when trying to complete the tasks at the droids and being agrod interfers with that sometimes. However, the crafting at teh workstation does not. So i don't think it would be a problem.

Best bet though - clear the room of hostiles first if possible.
