It would also be nice to be able to use one from the iconbar rather than having to go in your inventory.

This does indeed work. I had to use one from the toolbar when I was krayt hunting with friends

Well, you don't have to buy holo, which most people, but still this could be done on top of the issue you mentioned. I am not requesting it be removed just decreased to a more reasonable time limit. I person don't believe that a 2-4 time limit would hinder any BH with your mission. Since "most" encounters last anywhere from 2-15min, on average.
