Thread: AFK Camping

One small problem is.... it is not forbidden to afk camp, but it IS forbidden to train mobs/npc's on to other players with the intent to kill them:
"6. You may not intentionally circumvent the player-versus-player combat features and cause another player to die, such as by "training" them.
Training is defined as pulling/leading a hostile NPC or creature along behind you and attempting to get it to attack another player who does not desire that engagement.
The intentional training of NPCs or Creatures will result in immediate disciplinary action when witnessed by a CSR. We are aware that accidents often happen causing unintentional trains, and will scrutinize each report of this activity closely."
actually though this does not apply
1. I was not circumventing the pvp rules...it wasn't fighting him! He was engaged in pve and I was too
2. Most importantly: This player DID desire the engagement of those other aggros...he was sitting there killing them, behind a rock so that they couldn't attack him. In a way I was circumventing his circumvention of being attacked by the enemies. Last time I checked when you sit around and shoot stuff it is supposed to tattck you back which these enemies were not because he was shooting through a rock
. Too badweapon fire as the ability to shoot through rocks and enemies arne't smart enough to run around the thing to attack the guy who is shooting at them...I don't think so...sounds like a problem with the AIand NOT with the fact that he is camping.
While typing this post #2 brought an interesting thought to my mind...is the AI in this game so horribly flawed that this can happen...yes it is! Granted in some cases (Blueleaf Temple among others) once the initial batchof baddies are dead they respawn only one or two at a time...but in most cases thatI have encountered these afk campers they have been using a piece a geometry to their advantage which does not allow the enemy to attack them. In a way they are already disobeying the rules of combat by using an exploit...THAT is forbidden.
I know that two wrongs don't make a right but you have to admit...it gives you some pleasure getting one of those afk campers out of the way and back to where they belong...lying dead on the ground in the clone center. I don't really think that (in these circumstances) "training" is not allowed...they are already breaking the rules of combat thus the rule which applies to normal and legal cases does not apply.

And before you ask about imperials bringing the AT-ST to you, going overt means you agree to being a target to opposite faction players and faction pets.
Point taken. But if the afker has the/changetarget and /attack commands in his macro, then he is agreeing to attack whatever he has in front of him. whether that be a CorSec or a Meatlump. I wouldn't be forcing the CorSec to attack him, the afker would be the one who starts the shooting.
Well I thought the rule was about dragging those aggro spiders out of the cave so they'd turn on the AFK player after they stop chasing the 'dragger'. IMHO moving yellows about to get the AFK macro player to target them is fine...but then IMHO "DEATH TO AFK MACROERS" ..so there
I agree with death to afk macroers...except entertainer as well. I never used an afk macro...it seems like it would take all the fun out of the game. Even if I'm standing in coronet, spamming the wp to my shop or something I'm always sitting at the computer doing something else (in game). Seriously...it's only a game...these ppl think that they can be gods by afk-ing crap, but in the end who really cares. Congratulations you just mastered your 20th profession while you were not at your computer...how does it make you feel (haha your're still not a jedi)?
Anyway, the game was built in a certain way that allows for afk macroing...even if that is fixed i know of some external programs that help out for crafters and I'm sure they are around for the other profs as well; there will always be exploiters. It just makes me so mad when i see that guy standing there, exploiting, to grind up to a combat prof when I did mine the old fasion way over a period of a week or two. Sure they will be back out there the next day when they check their computer and realize that they are dead...but it's that little "up yours" that's so satisfying.

*shrug* Using a looping macro that selects the closest engageable target and opens fire at that target is, as far as I am concerned, a desire to engage everything.
Yes, take the afk'ers kills away from him. Its the only "safe" way for us live players to combat it.
May the Force be with you in your quest....
