there is no such thing as jedi, although if you want to duel with lightsticks in front of the theed starport you can grind out millions of xp for a few months. good luck.
Funny, it's listed in the professions box as Jedi. Ah then there is no such thing as rifleman, TKM, doctor, weaponsmith, etc either.
I know this may come as a bit of a shock to you but this is a GAME! (I hate the asshats dueling in the starports too but until some real content is pushed out that gives them something else to do we're stuck with them.)

The fact remains, guys, these "newbs" pay the same amount of money to play this game you do.
Newbs pay $30 and get the core game and both expansions. On my first account, I'vepaid $50 for the core game, $35 for JtL and $25 for RotW, plus $240 in monthly fees... then on my second account I've paid $50+$35+$25 and $120 in monthly fees.
When you can show me a "newb" who's given SOE $580 of their money, I've got certain... business ventures I'd like to propose.
Accept that I've earned a little more say in the course of this game than a Johhny-come-lately. Some of us don't like how SOE is alienating its long-term loyal customers and whoring Jedi to attract new subscribers.

i always hated that statement, and you should know that most people dont listen to their mother some point in their lives, for years at a time.
also, they ruin other peoples gameplay thru annoyance and being noob jedi. these jedi are still noobs and know nothing about the game. jedi are supposed to be knowledgable, these noobs who are like "hoow du u become jeedi???" on day 1, not only ruins some gameplay for others, but in the longrun it ruins it for them

I have to agree with you long term Loyal Players of SWG! The whole Noob Jedi is just another way for SOE to make money! Now this game was suppose to be the story of Star Wars, Instead soney has Butchered the whole Idea! I Have been a Star Wars fan be4 I could walk, I grew up with the movies and books! So I am sorry if I get a little ticked when Jedi becomes something that noobs can just snap up with the rite clickys and Macros! What happen to the Adventure of the game? Anyways Long live the Beta Testers and 700+ day Vets!!!!!!

Just point him/her the right way. It's too late to complain about jedi-growth-population anyways. The devs don't give a rats a** about what the RPG-players think about continuity and the timeline this game is set in. Just read the chat log from the dev chat. For those that didn't: The next expansion is called "the trials of obi-wan" and is set on that fire-planet in EP III. Of course almost all new things to come and quests are jedi-centric, even though the devs say "all other combat professions will find some content as well". The focus is very clear: JEDI JEDI JEDI. Look at the intro movie on the main SWG page. What do you see? JEDI! The easy possibility of becoming a jedi brings in new players like your guildie dreaming of adventures a la luke skywalker and darth maul. Well I say let them do as they please. Let's just try to enjoy this game until the point when we all cancel our subscribtions because there are no more non-alpha class professions left in pvp.

There is also a very nice "how to be a jedi" forum with stickied info on no FS to unlock plus initiate to padawan and up. It's located on Allakhazam.com. It's a nice supplement to the SWG official forums.
