When I returned afterthe CU I decided to delete my Weaponsmith Alt and start afresh with a combat prof, I started with 1000 credits, after doing missions which were artisan missions, I soon had enough money to buy my first set of armour when I turned Novice Carbineer. The other option to earning money is go into space, blast a few baddies, return to the starport and see the Chassis Dealer, that's a quick earner.

If you have the JTL expansion, it is real easy to make "starting-out" money. Just grab a free novice starter ship from one of the flight recruiters and fly around in space for an hour or so killing everything you can and looting all the ship components you can. Sell them to the vendor in the space port, deposit your credits chip inyour bank account and you should have 25k-50k+ credits to play around with after an hour or so of flying. When you run low on credits, fire up the ship again and make a little more spending money. And in the process, you are advancing your piloting skills.

Space is a very good way for noobs to earn money. I started a new character, and by the time I was 1111 pilot, I had looted enough components to earn 75k from the chassis dealer. not to mention the mission rewards and credit chips

Got agree with the veterans here. I started more than a year ago on my own, no guild, no friends...no clue.

Fast forward and I now have enough credits to purchase anything in game, even on the overpriced trade boards.

The point is that you can make money too. Missions are your friend. During double XP alone, I earned 1.5 million credits. My groups had very low level players up to full templete Jedi. Your BARC speeder alone is worth 4-6 million. Do you need credits bad enough?

Explore your options, take on missions and quests. Earn rewards and sell them. Then things will get better.

Actually the fact that you start a new character with only 1000 credits when you leave the Newbie-Space-Station does not mean that you won't have enough money for your starter needs only 10 minutes later. The reason for this is the revamped New Player Tutorial, which I tried out a few weeks ago just to see how it is implemented. I like the constant influx of new players after Episode 3 very much and try to help by explaining them the game systems and the possibilities of making money depending on their abilities. But once in a while I get a conversation like this one which I saved for future reference:

cor***: can someone spare some credits?
cor***: can someone spare some credits?
cor***: can someone spare some credits?
Gor'Gar: Already spent your 76,000 starter credits? lol
cor***: i wish
cor***: nope im clear out of money
Gor'Gar: Well, as a veteran I recently created a new character to see what the new player tutorial is like, and at the end of it you have 76,000 credits. That is why I stopped giving out money to new players, sorry.
cor***: huh i didnt get anything not even a bike
Gor'Gar: Have you done the tutorial in Mos Eisley? Immediately after the girl sends you to the bank for the first time and you use the terminal you get 75K added into your account
cor***: but i didnt get 75k i got 1k
cor***: were r u
Gor'Gar: Well, you get paid 2 times, first time 1K and second time if you do as you are told and go to the bank you find another 75K in your account (must join the bank I think). I tried it with 2 characters and both got the 75K at that point.
cor***: thats pretty sweet but i dont have time to deal with all that i have to level up my dude im weak
cor***: thanks for the info
Gor'Gar: You don't have time to go to a bankterminal and join it... You rather ask people for money... The tutorial is there for a reason... Good luck.
cor***: people give lots of money
cor***: i made 500k in 5 min
Gor'Gar: I can see your attitude, welcome to my ignore list.

Don't get me wrong, I have met a lot of nice Newbies in the last weeks and most of them are willing to learn how to play the game and are happy when you help them with advice. But I think just tipping money to random players that run around starports begging is the wrong way and might even fortify bad habits like in this case, as well as would further increasing the amount of starter money. Your 75K deposit in the bank is probably the second or third little thing you are asked to do in this tutorial after you landed in Eisley.

They "nerfed' them a couple of weeks or so into the game.

That's why people still sometimes say "Nerf the melons!"

cor***: people give lots of money
cor***: i made 500k in 5 min

kinda sad if this guy was telling the truth about making 500k in 5 min.

You can spend 5 weeks dancing and not even make that but you can stand around and beg without providing a service and make this kind of money.
