No genius required, just the desire to draw empty holsters of each kind and then a different 'holstered' graphic of each weapon in its holster. The gaffi stick might look funny but I'm not going to suggest it not be the only non-equippable 1h item as it would require more work/code to exempt itthan it wouldto do this. The T-21s are a good point though. Most larger weapons could be slung diagonally over the back, but i's not that easy. I'm not recommending that because the backpacks, which nobody would be willing to unequip in exchange for slinging a Gammorean battle axe across your back, would get in the way.
I would personally limit the holsters to pistols, carbines, and 1h melee.

More thoughts about Christmas 2004 (and beyond if anyone is reading). My wife plays the Sims. She recently got the Sims 2, which has an interesting feature. She can take a screenshot of her game, likea person, or an item, and transfer that into a picture she can hang on the wall of her home. It got me thinking, that would work GREAT in SWG. Self portraits, group shots, Guild photos, a shot of my ship, that Rancor that tore my arms off (thats his hide stretched over there on the wooden frame in the corner, by the way) etc etc. Pictures of whatever WE want to see hanging in our house. I realize that the programming nightmare of millions of individual pics in players homes, that need to be able to be viewed by everyone walking into the homes, makes this theoretically impossible. but its fun to think about. Maybe just the ability to create portraits. choose the hair, face and coloring of a particular charater ( all programming already IN the game) and freeze it in a wall shot? Give the ability to give it a "Name" at creation, and you have a portrait of your loved on to hang next to the skull of the Krayt Dragon that ate them.......ahhhh......romantic!
As for the Holsters for larger weapons, back slings would look very cool, but I agree not everyone would be willing to give up backpacks. However, thats a choice. In a game community this big, any choice made available WILL be chosen by SOMEONE. ( even hawtpants >shudder< ).
Now heres an idea that I think bears some thought. What do you see in most homes you walk into? a wall of guns displayed proudly. all neatly organized and arranged. So what about a weapon display case? a "gun rack" so to speak. There could be differant styles ( heavy weapons, pistols, meelee, rifles etc etc), and even differant materials. A TECH Weapons case would look differant from a WOODEN Weapons case.
And since we are talking about displaying items, how about a trophy case for our loot? With the decorating restrictions basically gone, the bookcase works well for displaying those eyes of merra, but wouldnt an actual trophy case seem more fitting?
Well, these are just the rantings of one of your local madmen. Hope someone likes these ideas. But I hope even more that if they are popular, certain someones of the DEV nature are checking them out, as well as the responce to them.

Holsters -- But that is more of an addition to the game rather then a Christmas present.
For a Christmas present I want something exclusive, rare and that will be worth money... A special ship like the Yacht in terms of exclusive.
That would be a neat gift and for SOE, will force many people to get the expansion for their gift.
Either that or random paintings or something. But they did random paintings before and I wasn't impressed.

Yeah that would be cool, and there have to be player events that will force everyone in a big snow fight. Hehe a tusken snowball attack

im sure everyone will say "oh what a wimp for saying this, but i do want to get initate, or at least a branch of FS (yes, even teh entertainers can use some force lovin ). holsters would be cool, but as a TKM, teh VBK holster just wouldnt be worth it, so im not really for that. i also admit that more useless paintings wont cut it (since all the space in my house is taken up with rare loots and junk like buff packs :smileyhappy. ships would be cool and boost sales of JTL, but teh chance of teh combat rebalance is... lets see... carry teh 1... zero percent chance. i want it done right,a dn im willing to wait for it. someone mentioned use of teh blue frog.. not gonna happen, since we are getting that chance in teh combat upgrade. capes coudl be used if they borrowed teh scripting and stuff used in City of Heroes. would really liek them to reopen teh old fashioned way of getting jedi (by mastering all of teh professions) since i find that easier and more fun than teh current method, which is just the SAME grinding, where before u at least had a little variance.

Give us Weapon Colors!
And wookiee clothing to match the awsome patterned gloves!
They have 4 steel looking rectangles on the knuckles, and sharp looking diamonds on the side, looks more dangoures then a VK, plus has a cool pattern!

Would like to find more skill tapes that help crafters.I have looted tons for the combat skills,but have only found 2 for the crafting.
I know you can buy them but who has 500k or 1mill for ten tapes.

If we get the holsters they should automaticly put the weapon in them when not agroed.Then take them out when you are agroed.That way ppl are not walking around with weapons all the time.
They could be really awesome, they could let us have a month to open as many fs skill trees as we could complete!!! That way it won't take over a year to be the jedi i want to be.(too many constraints on the skill training, adding too much time to the grind)
