well assuming the new frs is anything like the old one, you dont have "the same" skills as a padawan at master.. you may have the same template, but you have a force armor that is is beyond anything a padawan can muster (old system was about 80% dmg recuction for a minimal force cost) and force lightening that can one hit incap, so the ranked guys did get more powers, in a way.

having a jedi with mastery over more skills than teh template allows would just be out of hand...the whole point of breaking the jedi down into 5 trees and making it a template was to prevent taht...in the old days, jedi was just one all encompassing profession (well technicall 3) if that were possible, the point of having trees is nullified

If this was a game where jedi were admired for their differences it might be something to think about, but many pvpers and bh are complaining that jedi have too much power(which during CU, we don't) and are throwing off the balance of the game. This is making the Devs want to avoid granting us anything like that to prevent more complaining and also to prevent us from being too much of an "elite" profession. The new players are moving in and wanting jedi to go extinct, so granting us too much more power would make the whiners angry.

if a jedi had all skill boxes he'd have 14k force

All skill boxes are a bit excessive, and I would say more like an extra branch or two would be more suitable for jedi masters. So full templated Jedi padawans with ls x4x4/md/heal4x1x/enhancer/4xx4 for example can get mls/md/heal4x1x/enhancer4xx4 + the added bonuses when they reach jedi master. Assuming the new frs will make Jedi master hard to achieve, only a few will reach such levels if this was implemented.

Full templated jedi should be able to kill 30 fully templated others solo with no problem. If you think it wouldn't be fair to the people who didn't spend all that time to get a full templated jedi then flame away. If you are not a person who thinks this concept is unfair then congratulations for watching ALL of the Star Wars movies more then one time and liking it.

If you think this ideaisn't fair, then what you should do is ask SOE to make jedi a novice profession just like entertainer or medic.

As much as I think the idea would be groovy, I don't think it's reasonable from either a technical or balance scale.

Technical problems arise when you considder what happens if a Jedi loses rank. This basically means the Jedi is going to be stuck in a scenario where they have too many skillpoints and will have to respec again. The respec's already been causing problems the devs decided they didn't want to deal with when it comes to the FRS (which is the reason we were told it was deactivated). Granting Jedi more points as they rise in rank will cause this issue again if the concept of rank loss is preserved.

Balance issues are also a big concern. Even if the Force Pool is limited to a hard cap of 8k or whatever, the access to so many different abilities can be just thorougly unbalanced. Imagine a single Jedi with Total Heal, Stasis, Dervish, Avoid Incap and Force Intimidate all at the same time on the battlefield.

Now, something that I think would be a good idea is adding new pools of abilities that can be offered to the Jedi as they go up in rank. At each rank (if that concept returns), allow the Jedi to select one of 4 or 5 various powers (be they activated abilities or innate skill mods or whatever) that are only available at that rank. As a Jedi rises in rank, they can gain a moderate amount of force, some regen and one "rank ability" that won't require the expenditure of skillpoints. If they fall in rank, they lose the FRS ability they chose when they gained the rank. This lets a Jedi gain more power while controlling the balance issues and preserving the concept of variance in templates.
