Thread: Cross game chat rooms (SWG to an EQ2 room)....Hey Devs!

I followed the guide (/join eq2.servername/roomname) but when I hit enter, I get a "you must be invited to join a group" message. Now this chat room im trying to join was a private room with a password but the message im getting is more along the lines that the game thinks im trying to join a party, not a chat room in EQ2. Am I doing something wrong?

Heh, I figured the command was different. I just followed the guide put up on the SWG site and it just has /join. I'll try it when I get home. I think I can bring them back to SWG if they hear me blabing about hunting Jedi's and blowing stuff up in space

Now all we need is the ability to chat through our MSN/Yahoo/ICQ/ect accounts in game

1) who cares?

2) Why bother?

3) so what. big deal.

4) Do the Armor and PSG's "work as intended" yet?

unfortunately, those instructions are less than entirely accurate.

SWG to SWG (cross-server) chat rooms aren't working, at least.

Now if you could just tie in MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger, we could stay logged in all the time!

I would also like an answer to this question.

Again, I too also followed instructions on the web-site for chatting between games, but my long-lost swg buddies that joined EQ2 are still lost at the moment.

Any CSR have a comment on this service that doesn't appear to work. Would be interested in hearing form anyone who has it set up, maybe you can giveus somepointers?

One more question.....what if the chat room you are trying to get into is passworded? Like a private chat room. Will this still work?

You can't have same username in 2 games in your friends list.

While those instructions work for tells, they do not work for joining chat rooms on the SWG side. Attempting to use the /join xxxxx command as listed in the instructions gives you a message stating that you can't join a group unless you're invited; this tells me that there's a conflict between the chat command and the group command, meaning that unless there's a secondary command you can use to join chatrooms (haven't had a chance to try the /chatr join thing yet, so that might be it -I don't know), you can't.

Either way, the instructions need to be corrected, or some tinkering with the slash commands needs to be done so that this feature actually works from the SWG side of things.

This is something the Ranger community was recently trying to start up. A cross server channel for those of us that are regularly testing or looking for information. Unfortunately the /join command that the document suggests we use is already seperated to a different function.

Talking to other SOE games is possible, though I've only participated in channels where people have joined prior to my arrival. Setting up cross-server SWG chat is not possible by the instructions TH offers though,
